Good Moaning My Lovelies, from Hawkers Cove, near Padstow, on Friday 12th June 2026 and welcome to today's (long winded, boring) ramblings.........
Once again, a massive thank you to everyone reading and responding to my daily nonsense and welcome to all the new readers and followers, with more mad people, joining us every day...... It's lovely to have you along!
Please interact by adding your comments, opinions and any photos to my daily ramblings....... I do read them all and try to respond, (eventually) and enjoy knowing what you think, good or bad, (and I do enjoy some banter, with the bad ones)...........
Don't forget to say hello and tell me who you are when you visit..........

After posting the 7.00am photo yesterday and predicting (and hoping for) good weather, (if we could avoid the showers) in time for opening at 11.00am, the weather was bleddy awful, all morning with very heavy drizzle, non stop!
So 11.00am came and went and I was disappointed to be sat upstairs, after baking my scones and quiches, unable to see across the estuary, because of the mizzle.........
So it turned out that the billions of pounds worth of satellites and other equipment, was much more effective, than me, (Mr Know It All), putting my finger in my mouth and holding it up in the air!
Humble pie eaten............ lol

So I was watching TV, (the end of the England versus Costa Rica match that I missed from the night before), when I received a phone call, at about 12.35pm, from a couple, taking their dog down to the beach and wondering whether the tea garden was open!
I apologised and told them that we were closed, but if the weather improved, in the next 20 minutes, I would open up!
So I went downstairs and, looking out of the kitchen window, could see that the tables weren't as wet as last time I looked, so me and Alfie went round to open.........

So I was open by about 1.00pm and phoned the dog walking couple back, to let them know......... and they were my first customers, about 20 minutes later, (who quickly learned that I could talk for England)......... followed by a steady trickle of happy smiling faces right through to, (and past) 3.00pm..........
I closed at about 3.15pm, in the end, and left the last party of four young people, sitting there, with my usual 'last one out, lock the gate'......... they were lovely, three young men (two from London and one from the USA) and a young lady (from Australia) who began quizzing me on my scones (recipe and method), before I left them there............

The forecast for today, is for mainly dry but murky, with a possibilityof some odd sporadic drizzle, and a fresh breeze.
What do they know?
After yesterday, obviously more than me!

Sunrise was at 5.05am and sunset at 9.33pm, so the same as yesterday as the days keep getting longer, until the longest day of the year, (the Summer Solstice), a week on Sunday........

The (getting lower) low tide, in Padstow, is at 9.43 this morning and (getting higher) high tide is at 3.40pm, so Hawkers Cove should be accessible across the beach, until lunchtime during our opening hours, after which, you'll have to come along the Coast Path..........
The difference between high and low tide is just under five metres today, gaining each day as we head towards the New Moon (no moon), on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday............

The moon is in its waning crescent phase, so visually will continue appearing smaller, for the next few days, until the New Moon (No Moon).
Tonight, less than a quarter of the moon will be visible, clouds permitting, from 2.39am, until just before 6.47pm tomorrow afternoon ..........
So again, the moon will be 'out' for most of the day, rather than during the night!

Dawn travelled back to the Isle of Wight yesterday, so it's just me and Alfie at the moment, so very late walking round the block, last night, after falling asleep, in front of the TV.
Once again, nothing to report, apart from one small toad and 2000 snails, enjoyingthe very light drizzle!

Today's pic from my bedroom window, looking across to Polzeath and Trebetherick, at 6.20am, is again, very bland....... grey, misty, cloudy and damp...... you can hardly see the other side!

The official forecast is cloudy with spots of drizzle and a light breeze, this morning, with a temperature of about 16Β°C.
Once again, if the drizzle clears, (think positive) we're hoping for a nice day for a walk, and hopefully we'll see some of you later on, once it brightens up........ (don't quote me on that).

Happy holidays everyone xx
