Travel is full of assumptions.

Some are true.
Many aren’t.

We regularly hear things like:

✈️ “Japan is too expensive.”
🦁 “Safari is only for honeymooners.”
👶 “Long-haul isn’t worth it with young children.”
🏝️ “The Maldives would be boring.”
🇦🇺 “You need three weeks for Australia.”

But after planning thousands of holidays, we’ve learned that travel isn’t always what people expect. Often, the destinations you’ve ruled out become the ones you fall in love with.

And sometimes all it takes is looking at a destination from a different perspective.

Finding a holiday that keeps everyone happy isn’t always easy.

People often think planning a holiday starts with choosing a destination. In reality, it usually starts with a problem:

“We want somewhere special, but only have 10 nights.”
“We’ve done the Maldives - what next?”
“We want a family holiday that everyone will enjoy.”

These are the conversations I have every day. The truth is, there isn’t always one perfect destination. The right answer depends on your priorities, your budget, your travel style and what you want the trip to feel like. That’s where expert advice makes all the difference.

Mexico is having a real moment right now but beyond the well-known beach resorts, there’s so much more to the country than people often realise. ✨

From the food scene and boutique hotels of Mexico City to the slower pace of Oaxaca, the wildlife of Baja, colourful colonial towns, cenotes, Caribbean islands and multi-country adventures through Central America, Mexico works brilliantly as a destination for so many different travel styles.

Travel can leave an impact long after we’ve returned home and some of the most meaningful trips are the ones that benefit the destination as much as the traveller. 🌍

For me, thoughtful travel isn’t about perfection or ticking a “sustainable” box. It’s about choosing experiences that feel more connected, more personal and more respectful to the places we’re lucky enough to visit.

That might mean:
• staying in locally owned hotels and camps
• booking guides and experiences led by local communities
• choosing ethical wildlife encounters
• travelling slower and more intentionally
• supporting artisans, conservation projects and small businesses along the way

The reality is that luxury travel and meaningful travel absolutely can coexist, in fact, some of the most unforgettable trips usually combine both beautifully.
