Anyone who knows Claire knows she’s a bit of a wildlife obsessive 😊

So naturally, the wildlife section of her new Latin America blog is a good one.

Giant tortoises and blue-footed bo***es in the Galápagos, jaguars in Brazil’s Pantanal, then sloths, monkeys and incredible birdlife in Costa Rica.

And Costa Rica is particularly exciting, because it’s been on Claire’s own bucket list for years and she’ll soon be heading there with Latin Routes for their Training Academy.

We suspect there’ll be plenty more wildlife chat when she gets back!

Anita still remembers her very first booking: a safari to Kenya.

Quite a way to begin a career in travel.

Since then, she’s spent more than 35 years helping people see the world, managing high-street branches, moving into homeworking and eventually joining us here at Luxury Dream Holidays.

Along the way she’s travelled far and wide herself. Australia has a particularly special place in her heart, while the Indian Ocean, Caribbean, Thailand and Cyprus are firm favourites too.

That experience means Anita can talk about a destination with genuine knowledge, but she’ll never assume her favourite is automatically yours. Her approach is much simpler: have a chat, ask the right questions and find the holiday that suits you.

And after all these years, she still loves the excitement of turning someone’s holiday idea into the trip of a lifetime.

Claire’s been planning holidays since long before you could book one with a few taps on your phone.

She started in travel straight from school, back when everything was done manually and good old-fashioned knowledge, instinct and problem-solving really mattered.

More than 35 years later, those things still sit at the heart of how Claire works.

She’s been a travel manager, trained other travel professionals, built a weddings and honeymoons business and, in 2018, made Luxury Dream Holidays her own.

There’s a whole other side to the Maldives waiting beneath the water.

Just beyond the beach, you could find turtles feeding around the reef, rays gliding through the lagoon, small reef sharks passing below and shoals of colourful fish moving between the coral.

Seeing it in person is incredibly special, but it also comes with a responsibility to experience it thoughtfully. That means keeping a respectful distance from wildlife, never standing on or touching coral, and choosing guided trips and resorts that genuinely care for the marine environment around them.

Many Maldivian resorts now support work such as coral restoration, reef monitoring, marine education and turtle-identification projects. At selected islands, resident marine biologists lead guided snorkels and reef talks, helping guests understand what they’re seeing and why protecting it matters.

Marine life is wild, so sightings can never be guaranteed. But that’s part of the beauty of it. You’re entering their world, quietly and respectfully, and seeing what nature chooses to share with you.

Come for the beaches, but make time to discover what lies beneath them too.

The Maldives may be famous for its white beaches and overwater villas, but some of its loveliest moments happen beneath the surface.

Slip into the water and you could find turtles feeding around the reef, rays passing through the lagoon, small reef sharks cruising below and shoals of bright fish weaving between the coral.

Every island is different. Some have a house reef you can reach directly from the beach or your villa steps, while other marine encounters involve a short boat trip. The atoll, season, currents and conditions will all influence what you might see, which is another reason why choosing the right resort matters.

Many resorts are also supporting thoughtful conservation work, including coral restoration, reef monitoring, turtle identification and marine education.

At selected resorts, resident marine biologists lead guided snorkels and reef talks, adding a little expert context to everything you’re seeing.

Marine life is wild, so sightings can never be promised. That’s part of what makes each encounter feel so special.
