Portree’s original wildlife boat trip, operating since 1998.

We operate wildlife and scenic boat trips from Portree Harbour, Isle of Skye specialising in the 4th largest eagle in the world, the White Tailed Sea Eagle. All our skippers are fully qualified with first aid and commercial endorsements and have many years experience at sea. They have extensive knowledge in both the local wildlife and impressive scenery that makes the Isle Of Skye so spectacular.

While your satisfaction and enjoyment is very important to us, safety on board our vessels is our priority, that's why our 4 boats are MCA coded. The four vessels we are currently operating are the original MV Stardust, MV Stardust II, Wavedancer and our new RIB, Saorsa of Skye.

We’ve had some cracking wildlife sightings so far this season, despite the patchy weather! Here’s a wee glimpse:

1) Iolairean-mara / sea eagles

Fìor dheagh thaisbeanadh bho na iolairean am-bliadhna!

Great to have so many excellent displays from the white-tailed eagles this year! 🦅

2) Bàta ùr / new boat!

Sùil na Mara a’ cumail sùil air na leumadairean air latha àibheiseach!

Sùil na Mara (Gàidhlig for Eye of the Sea), keeping an eye on the dolphins on a stunning day! 🐬

3) Barrachd leumadairean. Bha gnòthaichean rud beag slaodach aig toiseach an na sèusan le na leumadairean ach tha e air a bhith math fhèin barrachd dhiubh fhaicinn bho chionn goirid!

More dolphin action! Brilliant to see more of them in recent weeks after a slightly slow start to the season with sightings 🐬🐬

4) A’ snàmh fo chuinnlean a’ bhàta / bow-riding

A super bow-riding display on board the Wavedancer from the dolphins!

5) Cha ghabh am beatadh!

A very happy birthday to the lovely Arlet Cater - 80 today!

Arlet, along with her husband John, have been chartering us here at Stardust Boat Trips for years to get them across to their beloved Eilean Fladday, where they own one of the very few remaining houses on the island.

Here are John and Arlet pictured on their recent voyage over on Wednesday, as they headed out to commence Arlet’s celebrations.

There was an end of an era towards the end of 2025 on the Isle of Rona as Bill Cowie's tenure as Island Manager drew to a close after an incredible 23 years in October. Bill, along with his wife Lorraine, were the last two remaining residents of Rona, which was evacuated in 1943 and saw only lighthouse keepers reside on the Island until the majority of the Island was bought privately in 1991.

Our Director Dan’s family have been associated for over 70 years with the Island, and we were delighted to aid Bill and Lorraine in their move over the sea to Skye.

The Corrigall family have been associated with the island since the mid-1950s, first through the late Tommy and Alfie Corrigall.

On their fishing boats MV Boy Andrew, MV Virgin, MV Iris and the MV Iris II, Tommy and Alfie for decades assisted several times in the moving of livestock, fodder, fuel for the lighthouse, supplies for the navy base and changes of lighthouse keepers.

Bill left the island for the final time as Manager on board Tommy’s son Dan’s boat, Stardust II, accompanied by his cousin Tommy, Alfie’s son.

Through Stardust Boat Trips, Dan and Tommy, along with the business’ other skippers will continue to preserve this strong family tie with the island by acting as a service ferry and occasional supply boat, assisting the new Island Manager, Steve Betteridge, in his running of the island.

On January 12th & 13th, I’ll be cooking Upstairs at Trinity by Adam Byatt for an exclusive Taste of Skye pop-up.

A four-course set menu celebrating the incredible ingredients, producers and stories from our island home, shaped by the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that defines Upstairs at Trinity.
