After a wonderfully busy summer, it feels good to be back in the office. With the kids back to school, I’m always that bit more productive, even on a rainy day like today.

Feeling inspired by how quickly the world transforms after a little rain? Here in the UK we have had such a dry summer, but just two days of steady rainfall and everything is suddenly looking fresher, greener and full of life again.

It is a lovely reminder that when you are planning a holiday, it is worth thinking about more than just “will it be hot?” and instead looking at the wider weather patterns in your chosen destination: rainy seasons that bring lush landscapes and waterfalls to life, cooler months that are perfect for exploring cities in comfort, or shoulder seasons where brief showers mean quieter beaches and better value.

When I design trips I always factor in seasonal weather trends so my travellers know what to expect, what to pack and how to make the most of each day, whatever the skies are doing. Why do we travel, and how do we choose where to go?

This week, I’m in South Wales with my family, and our inspiration was a very special one: my daughter adores Harry Potter, so we planned this trip around visiting the grave of Dobby the House Elf on the coast.

It might sound small, but standing there with her, seeing her face light up, reminded me what travel is really about. It is not just ticking off landmarks. It is about:

A quick update on my availability over the next couple of weeks:

This week I’ll be working on your enquiries from 10:00 to 16:00 most days while my daughter is at holiday club, so it’s a great time to chat through any plans you have in mind.
