If you’ve been out on one of our boats recently, you’ve probably seen today’s featured team member steering the boat and trying to convince everyone that horizontal rain is actually good for the complexion.

Meet one of our Skippers, Jess.

Here is the lowdown on the person behind the wheel:

Weather Philosophy: Rain, hail, or blistering sunshine, if the boat can sail, she’s happy. Apparently, being tossed around on the open ocean “never gets old,” which is exactly the kind of unhinged optimism you want in a Skipper.

Bird Nerd Status: While everyone else is trying to snap pics of the seals, our skipper is looking out for the Fulmar Petrel. If you ask nicely during your tour, you will get a highly enthusiastic, unprompted lecture on why they are the undisputed queens of the coastline.

Off-Duty Life: When forced to return to dry land, she can usually be found being dragged along the coastal paths by a spaniel named Seren, or losing her boots in the mud at a music festival.

Next time you’re on board, feel free to ask her about local wildlife, festival lineups, or why they choose to spend 90% of her life soaking wet 😊

Meet Issie!
Issie has recently joined Falcon Boats as Crew and Slip Master, bringing with her a wealth of experience from a career in outdoor instruction. Since leaving school, she has worked across Ireland, Scotland, the UAE and now Pembrokeshire.
When she’s not out on the water, you’ll usually find her surfing at Whitesands or spending time in the pottery studio. Her passion for the outdoors and the coast is clear in everything she does.
Working for Falcon Boats combines two of Issie’s favourite things: the ocean and being part of a fantastic team. One of her favourite parts of the job is seeing gannets diving up close on a daily basis,an incredible sight that never loses its magic 🩵🌊 🏄‍♀️

Yesterday was so we are a little behind the curve but I had a lovely day working with the legend that is on the boat and we took out lots of young people with .
Nic’s feedback from the day crewing was
‘lovely moments from yesterday: a small, round and beaming boy breathing ‘ this is WONDERFUL’ and a lad who’d asked questions the entire trip saying ‘ thankyou so much, I think I’ve been properly educated’ as he got off the boat. And a girl in a designer track suit saying ‘ your job is brilliant, I want to do this when I get older’.
Minds opened, perspectives shifted..’
and it reminded me that sometimes it’s the little things that can start big changes and that as custodians of the oceans it is on us to inspire the next generations of custodians. Thank you Nic for your inspiring feedback.
