RED ALERT! 🚨☀️

Feeling HOT HOT HOT?! 🥵 We've got some beautiful weather on the way this weekend (don't disappoint us Metoffice!), so this is your little reminder to take the necessary precautions to ensure that you don't end up exceptionally red!

However, we've got you covered! If you do end up a little pink, the good news is our Skin Soothing Seaweed Gel is...well...incredibly soothing! It can be used on the body and the face, and harnesses the moisturising, calming properties of seaweed, along with the natural soothing properties of aloe vera! We've also added in some lavender and lemon essential oils to give it an uplifting boost 🙃

SOCIAL MEDIA SWITCH UP! 🌱

We're making a few changes to the way we do our 'socials' moving forwards! Until now, Abbie has been trying to cover all areas of our multi-faceted, ever-growing independent business...however, there just aren't enough hours in the day to do it all!

So we're doing something a little more unique (we like to do things differently here) and splitting the role! Introducing some very familiar Really Wild faces, and the new social media team from left to right *drum roll please*...

Abbie (Production & Communications Manager) - expect posts containing insights into some of our natural, handmade soap & skincare products, hedgerow foraging facts and our new workshops! We're sure there'll be a few random ones thrown in for good measure too!

Sioned (Front-of-House Manager) - expect posts showcasing our renowned rustic-restaurant and all it has to offer, our unique and characterful ensuite accommodation rooms, and maybe a few extra clips from 'behind the scenes'!

Jon (Foraging Head Chef) - expect posts to highlight all things seaweed! Including information about our seashore forages and upcoming cookery demos! There might even be some recipe hints and tips too 😉

JUNE WORKSHOPS! 🌱

We've got two wonderful workshops coming up at The Really Wild Emporium soon, and you won't want to miss them!

First of all we have the talented Molly Macleod coming in on Monday June 16th to run one of her successful Cyanotype workshops... and I can speak from personal experience...it's BRILLIANT!

Then on Sunday 29th June local naturopathic nutritionist Lucy Davies will be joining us to run a Kombucha Workshop....I can't wait 🤗 ! You'll learn more about this fantastic fermented drink, then brew your own to take home with you (including your own scoby too!).

Things have ramped up here in St Davids for half term week, and our chefs are busy getting creative and adding some additional dishes to our daily offerings! ⭐

INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR BIODIVERSITY! 🌱

We're jumping on all the social media calendar days this week! Today is an important one for us nature-inspired, ecology lovers...the UN's International Day for Biodiversity!

We thought we'd ask a few of our lovely staff members who were working today what their favourite plants and animals are...oh, and one extra special question to one extra special person at the end too....! Interestingly enough, two of the people in this video both graduated from Cardiff University with a BSc in Zoology (in different years)....can you guess which two?❓

'Multiple scientific studies have come forward and suggested that by the end of 2100, almost half of all the world’s species will disappear from planet Earth, creating one of the greatest ecological destruction known to mankind.' (earth.org)

Humans are now classified as a 'hyperkeystone' species (keystone species have a disproportionately large impact on their environments in relation to their population size). Instead of destroying the wild and wonderful world we inhabit, we need to be part of the change to nurture, and work in harmony with, the ecosystems that surround us....otherwise many of our favourite species...and the millions of others too...may not be around much longer! (and thus probably not us humans, either!).

Be part of the change. Small actions matter.

REALLY WILD SCHOOL SESSIONS! 🌱

Yesterday saw Abbie bring her teacher & Forest School training skills back out of hibernation, as she was invited to one of the local schools to run some Really Wild sessions!

Abbie spent the day in the beautiful grounds of Ysgol Penrhyn Dewi Non Campus, in the gorgeous sunshine, teaching the Year 5 transition pupils all about foraging safely and ID skills. They had a fantastic day and all of the children from the various schools around the catchment were BRILLIANT! ⭐

A total of three workshops (each with 20 pupils) were led throughout the day, alongside river dipping with Richard from the Pembrokeshire National Park, and storytelling with Father Luke from The Diocese of St Davids, Church in Wales.

In this digital-focused and AI-led age, inspiring and educating future generations about the wonders of nature, and how to treat our natural world with respect, is one of the core values central to everything that we do at The Really Wild Emporium.
