We welcome everyone to our site, but what we absolutely will not tolerate is disrespect towards us, our site, our animals, our property, our neighbours or our other guests.
Unfortunately, this weekend we experienced the worst behaviour we have encountered since opening. Across three separate groups staying on site the same night, there was excessive drinking, shouting, swearing and arguing into the early hours, glass bottles being thrown into our horse paddock as can be seen here, and guests interfering with the wagons and their surroundings.
Some of the behaviour was particularly concerning. Steps were placed against the original 130-year-old wagon windows to create barricades, doors were deliberately blocked with picnic benches, and glass was thrown into a paddock containing our horses as can be seen here. We have only had a brief opportunity to look back through the CCTV, so there may be further issues we haven’t yet identified.
We received a call from a concerned neighbour at around 2am because of the noise but we were away at a show. I subsequently had to leave the show I had entered into and return to the site early Sunday morning to deal with the situation and tell the guests in question to leave.
Most importantly, we also had other guests staying who were extremely uncomfortable with what was happening around them. One couple visiting the UK were too scared to leave their wagon while the behaviour was going on. This is completely unacceptable and I won’t tolerate it.
This is not what our site is about.
We have created this place as a peaceful, family-run glamping site where people can experience our original heritage accommodation, enjoy the countryside and spend time around our animals. We have had some absolutely wonderful guests during our first full season, and we are incredibly grateful for that.
But we need to make our position clear:
If you cannot enjoy a drink responsibly, this isn’t the site for you.
If you want to cause arguments, participate in domestic violence, disturb other guests or damage my property, this definitely isn’t the site for you.
And if you cannot treat our site, our animals, our belongings and our other guests with respect, you will be leaving one way or the other and I couldn’t care less who you are or where you’re from. I will never tolerate disrespect and I will always treat people how they treat me.
No matter what threats get made towards me in the course of me removing you from our site if you cause problems, that is exactly what will be happening.
We are proud of what we have created here and will do whatever is necessary to protect it and ensure that our guests can enjoy the peaceful stay they booked.
Thankfully, incidents like this have been extremely rare, this being the first one of many many bookings and we don’t want anyone considering a stay with us to be put off. The overwhelming majority of our guests have been fantastic some even becoming our friends.
If you ever experience a problem while staying with us, please contact us straight away. We would much rather know about it at the time so we can deal with it immediately.
Thank you to all of our brilliant guests and neighbours for your continued support. ❤️
