A beautiful start to the day with our lovely members — sunshine, good company, and that fresh forest air. We had a brilliant run in with a lovely minibus and a fantastic driver who looked after us all the way.

DUNKIRK & FORTRESS EUROPE
5‑Day Commemorative Battlefield Excursion

Monday 14th – Friday 18th September 2026

Overview

The evacuation of more than 330,000 British and French troops from Dunkirk in May 1940 — Operation Dynamo — stands as one of the defining turning points of the Second World War. In its wake came four long years of occupation, during which the German war machine constructed the vast Atlantic Wall across northern France and Belgium to prevent any Allied return.

This powerful five‑day tour traces that story in full. We visit the war graves, memorials, and battle sites of 1940, walk the beaches and port of Dunkirk, and even view surviving wrecks of the Little Ships that helped bring our troops home. Along the way, we explore exceptional local war museums, the Dunkirk Memorial and War Cemetery, and key locations connected to the launch sites of the V‑weapons, including the infamous Doodlebug and V2.

We also step inside surviving bunkers and defences — stark reminders of the scale and ambition of Fortress Europe.
