🇮🇲 Day Four – The Final Day of our Isle of Man Fam Trip!

We certainly packed plenty into our final day! 👏

We kicked things off at Robinson’s Food Market, sampling a delicious selection of local treats, from crab claws, cheeses and cured meats to biscuits. A great way to start the morning! 🧀🥩

Next, we took a quick look at Tynwald Hill before heading to Tynwald Mills for a spot of shopping and a browse around the independent shops. 🛍️

From there, we stepped back in time at the House of Manannan, enjoying another fascinating guided tour exploring how the Manx people lived and the Vikings settled on the island.

Our next stop was Ballacosnahan Farm, where we met the famous Loaghtan sheep and hopped aboard a tractor ride up the hill to see the herd. A lovely couple running a fantastic business, and a brilliant experience! 🐑🚜

To round off our sightseeing, we visited the incredible Isle of Man Motor Museum to meet Steve and Dennis. This place really is a must-see! Packed with an amazing collection of cars, buses, motorbikes, phone boxes and even space shuttle pods, every corner has a story to tell. Definitely one for the bucket list! 🚗🏍️

Finally, we headed to the Cook Shack for an evening of delicious Manx-sourced food, drinks and great conversation with Georgie, the owner and a fantastic host. A perfect way to finish our trip! 🍽️🍻

And just like that, our Isle of Man adventure comes to an end! 🇮🇲

What a fantastic few days exploring this incredible island. From its breathtaking scenery and fascinating heritage to its rich history, folklore and welcoming locals, it’s easy to see why people love the Isle of Man so much.

If the Isle of Man isn’t already on your bucket list, it certainly should be! 👏💚

🇮🇲 Day Three of our Isle of Man Fam Trip!

Today was another busy day exploring the island, starting in Douglas at the Manx Museum, where we enjoyed a guided journey through 15,000 years of Manx history, from art and natural history to the Vikings! 🏛️

Next, we visited Tynwald, home to the island’s government, before heading down Douglas promenade to meet the amazing horses that pull the traditional horse trams along the seafront. 🐴

From there, we made our way to Laxey for a self-guided tour of the famous Laxey Wheel and mines. Jac and I even tackled the 96 steps to the top of the wheel! The views were impressive, but heights, strong winds and rain aren’t the best combination, so we made our way back down rather more cautiously! 😅🌧️

Unfortunately, our planned trip on the Snaefell Mountain Railway was cancelled due to winds exceeding 55mph, so reaching the summit will have to wait for another day! 🌬️

We then enjoyed a scenic woodland walk through Groudle Glen to the railway. Beautiful surroundings, although perhaps one to bear in mind for groups with less mobile passengers.

To round off the day, we headed to Okells Brewery for a behind-the-scenes tour, learning more about the brewing process and enjoying a few samples of their l***r and MPA! 🍻

A packed day full of history, heritage, stunning scenery and a little local flavour!

🇮🇲 Day Two of our Isle of Man Fam Trip!

We kicked off the morning at the famous TT Grandstand, where Roger Hurst took us on a guided lap of the legendary TT course! 🏍️🏁

Next, we headed to Laxey to enjoy the incredibly scenic journey to Ramsey aboard the Manx Electric Railway 🚋, followed by a quick visit to Maughold Church, lunch and a tour of the Ramsey Park Hotel.

After lunch, we explored the historic Milntown House & Gardens, taking in the beautiful grounds that are still bursting with colour! 🌸🌿

Our afternoon continued at Curraghs Wildlife Park, where we spotted penguins, spider monkeys, peacocks roaming freely and plenty more wildlife! 🐧🐒🦚

To round off another fantastic day, we visited Fynoderee Distillery for a little taste of their gin and rum, while learning about Manx history, smuggling and the traditional foraging methods they still use to source ingredients today! 🍸

(Thankfully, it’s only the foraging that’s still going on! 😉)

Another brilliant day discovering what the Isle of Man has to offer. 👏🇮🇲

🚂 Day One of our Isle of Man Fam Trip! 🇮🇲

We kicked things off by hopping aboard the famous Steam Railway from Douglas to Port Erin, where we enjoyed a quick coffee stop at The Sound, taking in the stunning views across the Calf of Man! ☕🌊

Next, we headed to Cregneash to explore the traditional Manx folk cottages and learn more about the island’s fascinating heritage.

In the afternoon, we stepped back in time with a tour of Castle Rushen before heading to the House of Keys, where we joined the ‘Government officials’ for an interactive debate on the island’s history. A brilliant way to bring the past to life! 🏰

A fantastic first day exploring the Isle of Man, with plenty more to come! 👏🇮🇲

🚨New passport requirements announced by UK Border Force regarding travel to the Republic of Ireland.

If you have a tour with us travelling to or from the Republic of Ireland from 28th September, we will be in touch with as soon as we can.

This news has landed with us at the same time, so we’re currently processing all the infomation and checking upcoming tours.

🚨New passport requirements Irish Sea🚨

From 28 September 2026, all passengers, including Irish and British citizens, travelling between the Republic of Ireland and Britain (both directions) will be required to carry a valid passport.

This is to ensure compliance with UK Border Force requirements relating to the accuracy and integrity of passenger data before boarding.

We encourage all passengers travelling or planning to travel after 28 September 2026 to check that they have a valid, in-date passport (or Irish passport card) before arriving at the port.

Today Ruth celebrates 30 years of dedicated service at Action Tours, and also marks her 40 years of work in travel. Before coming to Action Tours, Ruth was a tour manager for Cosmos & then Fourwinds/Cotsworld travel for 10 years. Ruth feels very lucky to have had such a wonderful career in travel and has met and made some wonderful friends and colleagues over the years.
