Congratulations to the Year 5 pupils at Windy Arbor Primary School who have been completing their Bikeability training.

From mastering cycle control to riding confidently on local roads, they've shown fantastic commitment and enthusiasm throughout the course. We hope to see many of them continuing to enjoy the freedom, fun and benefits of cycling long after their training has finished.

🚲 As Cycle to School Week comes to an end, we'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who chose to travel actively this week.

🚶‍♀️🚲🛴 The benefits don't stop here. Walking, wheeling and cycling to school can help children build confidence, independence and healthy habits for life.

Next week our instructors will be back in Solihull schools delivering Bikeability training to hundreds of pupils. 🎉

🚴‍♀️ Learning, laughter and new adventures on two wheels!

This week, as part of Cycle to School Week, the Mayor of Solihull joined pupils at Balsall Common Primary School to see Bikeability training underway.

For many children, Bikeability is more than learning road safety. It's about gaining confidence, enjoying time outdoors, building independence and discovering just how much fun cycling can be.

Our instructors loved helping pupils take the next step in their cycling journey.

This week, the Mayor joined year 5 pupils at Balsall Common Primary School as they began their Bikeability training, with Cycle to School Week taking place this week across the country. 🚲

The children were learning key cycling skills, including how to carry out safety checks, signal clearly, brake safely and position themselves correctly on the road. Those who complete Level 1 training will move on to riding on local roads with their instructors later this week. 📅

This success builds on Solihull's strong Bikeability record. The latest 2025/26 delivery figures show Solihull Council is the joint second highest-performing local authority in the country, with 86% of Year 5 pupils across the borough taking part in Bikeability training. 🗺️
