Stratford upon Avon Long Hot Summer…

A pathway through Holy Trinity - The fallen leaves beneath the trees may have looked autumnal, but this was still summer. During prolonged hot and dry weather, trees can shed their leaves early to conserve water, a survival response known as a “false autumn”.

A lovely circular walk around Stratford-upon-Avon, following the pathway across Lucy’s Mill Bridge before turning towards Shakespeare Marina. From there, climb the steps at Gordon Grey Lock and continue beside the River Avon to Stannells Bridge.

Cross the bridge to join the Stratford Greenway, then follow the route back past Stratford-upon-Avon Racecourse, with a well-earned coffee stop at Bobby’s Café along the way. ☕️🥾

A quiet walk around one of Stratford-upon-Avon’s most historic landmarks.

The Collegiate Church of the Holy and Undivided Trinity, better known as Holy Trinity Church, stands beside the River Avon, surrounded by mature trees and peaceful church grounds.

This Grade I listed Church of England parish church is often called Shakespeare’s Church, as William Shakespeare was baptised here in 1564 and buried inside the church following his death in 1616.

Beyond its Shakespeare connection, Holy Trinity remains an active place of worship and an important part of Stratford’s history. Its riverside setting, Gothic architecture and centuries-old churchyard make it one of the town’s most recognisable and atmospheric places to visit.

Grey skies above Stratford-upon-Avon, but there’s still plenty of colour to enjoy at The Other Place. 🌺🌧️

Located on Southern Lane, just a short walk from the Royal Shakespeare and Swan Theatres, The Other Place is the RSC’s creative hub for learning, research and development. It is also home to rehearsal rooms, a café bar and an intimate 200-seat theatre.

Whether you’re arriving at Bridge Foot, crossing Clopton Bridge or simply enjoying a stroll along the River Avon, it’s hard not to pause here for a moment.

The Boat House has been a familiar part of Stratford’s riverside for centuries. Originally an 18th-century working boathouse, its distinctive timber frontage was added in the late 19th century as boat hire and river excursions became increasingly popular, helping to shape the lively riverside scene we still enjoy today.
