Join us on Remembrance Sunday the 8th November, as Sunderland comes together to honour the service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces community.

The annual Remembrance Sunday Parade and Service will take place at the War Memorial on Burdon Road, led by the Mayor of Sunderland. Veterans, serving personnel, cadets, community groups and residents will gather to pay their respects and remember those who gave their lives in service to our country.

📍 Please arrive by 10.15am to secure a viewing spot
🕚 Two-minute silence at 11am

♿ Accessible viewing platform open from 9.30am
🚧 Burdon Road and Park Road will be closed from 7am until approximately 2pm

It’s officially Autumn and as the days get shorter and temperatures begin to drop, plants are dying back and preparing for the colder months ahead.

When the flowers fade, are you quick to snip off the seed heads, or do you prefer to watch nature's transformation unfold?

At Mowbray Park Community Garden, our volunteers are taking a gentler approach, leaving nature to do its thing a little longer. By allowing seed heads, stems and fading plants to remain, we're creating food sources and habitats for wildlife, encouraging native species to feed, shelter and make homes in the garden.

It's a simple way to support local biodiversity, while helping to create a healthy, balanced environment where our edible crops can thrive too.

Don't forget, the Community Garden remains open for self-led visits, and we have a programme of drop-in activities taking place throughout the year.
