Something exciting is coming to Sunderland this October 🙌

High Street West will be transformed into a Bavarian-style Oktoberfest from 16-18 October, with live Oompah music, traditional food, themed entertainment and plenty of family-friendly fun.

Available sessions:
Friday 16 October - 6pm to 11pm

Saturday 17 October - Session One: 12 noon to 5pm - Session Two: 6pm to 11pm

Sunday 18 October - Family-Friendly Session: 12 noon to 4.30pm

There's just days left to visit Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens before it closes on Saturday 29 August to allow preparations to begin for its exciting £13.6 million transformation.

Visitors are being encouraged to make one final trip to the much-loved venue and join a special Alice in Wonderland Farewell Party on its final day. Activities include community art, family crafts, memory sharing, a last chance to experience the 404 Birdsong Exhibition, and a Mad Hatter's Garden Party in the Community Garden.

The transformation will create a modern, fit-for-the-future cultural venue while preserving the heritage and character that have made the museum a favourite destination for generations.

It'd hard to believe it's been a year today since Sunderland hosted the opening match of the Women’s Rugby World Cup at the Stadium of Light.

This video brings back some fantastic memories of the action, the atmosphere and the pride of welcoming the world to our city. A landmark moment for women's sport and for Sunderland 👏
