What local experiences or venues would you recommend that event planners might not find on their own?

For Slovenia and Croatia, we spoke to Nina Skorupan, Head of Nomago DMC.

"While iconic locations like Ljubljana and Bled are wonderful, some of my favourite recommendations are the hidden gems.“

Nina recommends private experiences with local artisans, boutique or traditional alpine experiences on mountain tops, and exclusive dinners in unexpected locations such as castles, vineyards and historic city venues.

For her, the most memorable experiences are the ones that create a genuine connection with local culture.

That could mean meeting a local w**emaker, taking part in a coffee workshop with local experts, or enjoying a dinner accompanied by Slovenian storytelling and traditional music.

"They are the moments guests remember long after the event ends.“

What local experiences or venues would you recommend that event planners might not find on their own?

For India, we spoke to Nitheesh Krishnan of Akbar Holidays.

"The iconic anchors, the Taj Mahal, Jaipur's palaces and Kerala's backwaters, are iconic for a reason, and I never apologise for including them.

But the experiences UK planners remember longest are the ones that require genuine local access.“

Nitheesh shared just a few examples...

- A private dining experience inside a working Jain temple in Rajasthan, hosted by the family who have cared for it for generations
- A breakfast on a spice plantation in Kerala, where the farmer takes guests through a harvest that predates the British presence in India.
- A rooftop sunset overlooking Varanasi's ghats, watching the evening Aarti ceremony unfold from the private terrace of a family whose roots on that street stretch back hundreds of years.

"None of these are in any catalogue. They exist because of relationships built over years with people who don't open their doors to everyone.

That access is what separates a curated India programme from a packaged tour.“

Some of the best destination knowledge comes from experiencing it first-hand.
