Zephyr Charters Zephyr is a 32ft offshore charter vessel based out of St Mawes Harbour, in Cornwall UK. Zephyr is licensed to carry 10 passengers plus 2 crew members.

Located in St Mawes Harbour in Cornwall, Zephyr Charters is a 32ft offshore charter powered by a 420hp V8 Caterpillar engine, capable of getting us to the grounds quickly and smoothly giving plenty of time for a days fishing. The facilities onboard include, plenty of tea and coffee free of charge, a twin gas hob, sink & fully flushable toliet, all the latest electronic equipment including radar, Raymarine fish finder and chart plotter, GPS & VHF radio. Zephyr is kitted out with all new Penn rods and reels, which are £5pp to hire for the day. Zephyr is MCA compliant with all health and safety equipment onboard. Types of fishing included:

Offshore game fishing trips
Blue shark and porbeagle fishing
Offshore wreck and reef fishing
Inshore mixed species fishing
Sea life safari tours- Observing whales, sharks, dolphins, seals, seabirds and potentially walrus! Also available for survey/ support boat hire

Zephyr is owned & skippered by Lewis Annear a local, enthusiastic fisherman. Lewis is qualified and insured to take passengers 20 miles from the nearest safe haven day and night. Sunday was carnage. All casting and livebaits.

THE WEEK OF UNICORNS 🦄

Some weeks you go fishing with a plan. Some weeks you go fishing with a bloody ambitious plan!

Back in November, Andrew booked Zephyr for five days with four targets — tuna, thresher shark, John Dory and gilthead bream.

Two were definitely achievable. The other two… well, they’re called unicorns for a reason! 😂

Monday got off to a slow start after the boys’ flight from Edinburgh was delayed until midday, so we switched plans and headed out for an evening session on the thresher.

No joy on the sharks, but we did find some cracking bass and plenty of PBs.

Tuesday was all about tuna. A full day on the hunt, plenty of water covered, but unfortunately there just wasn’t anything to work with and we finished with a blank.

Wednesday was John Dory day. We started with live baits, but the cuttlefish were destroying us, so we changed tactics and headed onto the rough ground with lures.

Then… BOOM. Dory in the boat! 🦄🐟

One unicorn down!

Thursday was gilthead day. Finding worm on the neap tide was a struggle, but we eventually managed to put three giltheads in the boat. Not the biggest, but the target was reached!

Friday was supposed to be another bream day, but with that box ticked, we decided on one last go at the tuna.

Beautiful morning, birds working and tuna spotted. We pitched live baits into the feed… but still no tuna.

Then, about an hour later, the rod buckled over and we were into a porbeagle shark! 🦈

The Scottish boys were buzzing, so we headed back in and spent the rest of the day exploring the reefs.

Black bream, red bream, comber, cuckoo wrasse, gurnard, squid and cuttlefish all made an appearance.

So no tuna or thresher this time, but we came away with John Dory, gilthead bream, a porbeagle, cracking bass, plenty of PBs and a seriously varied week of fishing.

Not a bad result after a tricky start! 🦄🎣

Big thanks to Andrew and Harry from Glasgow for putting in the hours all week. Hopefully one they’ll remember for a long time! 👊

It’s never an easy list for a skipper, and one we couldn’t quite complete — but I think that’s what keeps people coming back. We don’t want to make it too easy for you guys! 😉🔥

Good few days out tuner fishin and had a day on the falmouth shark competition catching 3 sharks. We also got annihilated by something today while on the shark comp. I had to start her up and go for a chase unfortunately the line parted. The one that got away, the emotional rollercoaster that is fishing. Its what keeps us coming back.
