One week to go until our new visitor app goes live!
Roseland Visitor Centre
Visit St Mawes and the Roseland App - new for 2026
We are very excited about the launch of our new app, Visit St Mawes and the Roseland, which will be going live for February half term, with accommodation, food and drink, shops and galleries, walking, transport, and places to visit all listed (see the advert in the centre of the Magazine). We hope we have included everything that a visitor to the area could possibly need to know to get the most out of their time on the Roseland, in an accessible, comprehensive and user-friendly way. The QR code will go live on February 9th.
We will still have our website, www.stmawesandtheroseland, but feel that this approach is the way forward. Following the launch, if you discover your business is not on the app, and you would like it to be, please contact me on [email protected] .
The Roseland Visitor Centre will be reopening for 2026 on Monday 9th February, with the usual opening times of Monday to Friday, 10.0am until 12.30pm.

New Beach Safety App released

Although the Roseland doesn't have any lifeguarded beaches, this is such a good idea we had to publicise it!

The free MyCoast beach information app is now live across all 60 RNLI Lifeguarded beaches in Cornwall, providing users with real-time information alongside built-in safety parameters provided by the RNLI. It’s aim? To direct people away from beaches with unsuitable conditions whilst providing users with all the relevant information they need for planning a great day out on the Cornish coast.
Created in Cornwall alongside the RNLI and a host of other leading collaborators, MyCoast allows users to plan better and safer beach days out. Users are able to choose their activities for that day, before adding whether they are bringing children with them, or have accessibility needs. They are then able to select any facilities and amenities, such as parking, toilets or food and drink before searching. The complex engine at the heart of the MyCoast app then analyses the users requirements, together with the weather, water quality, sea conditions and specific water safety parameters for each beach, built-in by the RNLI, before displaying the beaches which are suitable for their activities and needs. As a result, users can make more informed decisions before visiting the beach.
What makes MyCoast so unique is that it is the only app to not only pull real-time data across these features, but it has the RNLI’s built-in safety parameters as well as detailed information about geolocated facilities, which users can navigate to from within the app.

One of our Roseland Visitor Centre tea towels was a prize at the Regatta Bingo on Friday, and caused a bit of a stir. We obviously need to publicise them a bit more, so here you are - our unique St Mawes tea towel, only £9.95. Road-tested and pronounced excellent quality by our volunteers. Pop in and pick one up.

Roseland Visitor Centre – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Have you got a bit of spare time, enjoy meeting people and fancy sharing your knowledge of the Roseland? We are looking for volunteers for the Roseland Visitor Centre in St Mawes.
The hours are 10.00 to 12.30, Monday to Friday, and you really don’t need to have an extensive knowledge of everything and everywhere on the Roseland – although I guarantee you’ll know more than you think you do. It’s an opportunity to meet new people, and become part of a genuinely friendly and welcoming team – and you do get to park for free in the St Mawes car park on the days that you volunteer! There isn’t a huge amount of stock to get your head around, or IT systems to learn – just a till and a card machine, and a PC if you want to use it, but not if you don’t.
We are here to provide a friendly face to visitors and locals alike, whether it’s pointing out a particularly lovely walk, handing out recycling bags, or booking spaces on the Roseland Community Transport bus trips. If all this sounds right up your street, give me a ring on 01326 270799 (please do leave a message if I’m not there) or email me on [email protected]. I’d love to hear from you.
