After a summer spent keeping watch across York, all 12 Watchers have now reunited for their Final Gathering at York Minster.

Inspired by the famous grotesques that have watched over the Minster for centuries, you can see the complete collection together in the spectacular Chapter House until 13 September.

🌋 Last chance for a volcanic adventure!

Autumn in Whitby just hits differently. 🍂👻🎃

Thoughts are already turning to one of our favourite times of the year on the Yorkshire coast… Halloween in Whitby.

As the nights draw in, the town takes on a completely different atmosphere. Whitby Abbey looks even more dramatic against the darkening skies, the old streets and 199 Steps feel that little bit spookier, and the town’s famous Dracula connections suddenly seem perfectly at home.

There’s plenty to look forward to too, including the spectacular Illuminated Whitby Abbey and the Halloween Whitby Goth Weekend, when the town fills with incredible outfits, photographers and visitors from across the country.

Add in Whitby’s gothic history, ghost stories, cosy pubs and dark autumn evenings overlooking the harbour, and it’s easy to see why autumn is one of the very best times of year to visit.
