😍🐑 Happy National Hug a Sheep Day! 🐑😍

💙 Meet Elwood! 💙

Elwood is our handsome Ryeland tup, who has been keeping Tash and Tosh company for the past two weeks! 🐏💙 We’re keeping our fingers crossed and hoping for some lovely little lambs arriving in March 2027! 🐑💕

But did you know that Ryelands have a fascinating history?

🐑 A little bit of Ryeland history…

✨ Ryelands are one of the oldest recorded sheep breeds in Britain.

✨ They originated in the Ross-on-Wye area of Herefordshire and were traditionally bred for their beautiful fleece.

✨ During the 14th and 15th centuries, their highly prized wool was exported to Flanders, where it was greatly valued.

Today, the Rare Breeds Survival Trust and The Ryeland Sheep Society help monitor and support the breed to ensure these wonderful sheep continue to thrive. 💙🐑

We’re delighted to have Elwood with us and can’t wait to see what March 2027 might bring! 🥰

So, on National Hug a Sheep Day, let’s show a little extra love to these wonderful woolly characters! 💙🐑😍

🎄🇬🇧 A York family business has won the honour of supplying the Christmas tree outside No. 10 Downing Street!

York Christmas Trees has been named Christmas Tree Grower of the Year for the second time in six years, bringing the prestigious title back to Yorkshire! 🏆🌟

The family-run business, based at Wigginton Lodge, won Best Nordmann Fir at the 2026 British Christmas Tree Growers Association competition — and that very same tree went on to claim the overall title!

Oliver Combe, who runs the business with wife Kirstie, first won the award in 2020. Now, their winning tree will take pride of place outside the Prime Minister’s famous London residence this Christmas. 🎅✨

The family has been growing trees for 28 years, with each one spending around eight years growing in the field before it’s ready to be harvested. 🌲

What a fantastic achievement for a local Yorkshire business! 👏
