A relaxing lazy day trip along the River Gambia. This is always a favorite for our guests. On this occasion, our lovely clients from UK, Darren and Sarrah, joined a friendly group on board a comfortable boat.

As we cruised gently along the river, everyone enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, surrounded by beautiful mangroves and the sounds of nature. Cold drinks and music created a fun and social vibe, making it easy for guests to connect and enjoy each other’s company.

It was truly a perfect day of relaxation, laughter, and unforgettable memories on the water.

The Bijilo Forest Park, also known as Monkey Park, is a peaceful nature reserve where visitors enjoy a short walk through beautiful forest trails while meeting friendly monkeys. The highlight is the close interaction with green vervet monkeys and spotting the rare red colobus monkeys in their natural habitat. It’s a quick, fun, and relaxing trip—perfect for nature lovers and first-time visitors to The Gambia.

We know we can’t save the world but every small step is a step in the right direction!! Together with the very best, local guide Ousman Zoss Saidykhan bought 250kg of rice and 25l of cooking oil, 10 of the poorest families can eat here for a month😏 Marcel Van Belleghem thanks for the sponsorship!! Then to the poorest school in the neighbourhood where at least 1041 children of all ages attend education. Not a single ball or pencil for hands because this is priceless here and not a single tourist even pays them a visit. We gift them school supplies and toys ✏️ 📖 ⚽ 🎈 🧸

Today was a very special day in Pirang.
Thanks to the generosity of some wonderful visitors, we were able to buy 250kg of rice and 25L of cooking oil for families in need in the community.
After that, we visited a local school with more than 1000 children, where the visitors also donated school supplies and toys.
Their kindness will make a real difference for many families and children.
On behalf of the community, thank you for your big hearts ❤️
This is the real spirit of The Gambia.

Most people who want to visit Africa make the same mistake.

They think they need to start with a big safari destination.

Kenya.
Tanzania.
South Africa.

But there is one country that is often overlooked… and it might actually be the perfect first introduction to Africa.

🇬🇲 The Gambia.

Here’s why many travelers fall in love with it:

• It’s one of the smallest countries in Africa, which means you can see a lot without long travel days.
• The official language is English, so communication is easy.
• The people are famous for their hospitality — it’s not called the “Smiling Coast of Africa” for nothing.
• You can see wildlife, culture, villages, markets and river life all within a short distance.
• And if you want a safari experience, you can even visit Senegal for a day trip.

But what makes The Gambia truly special is something you won’t find in brochures.

It’s the human connection.

Conversations with locals.
Children waving when you pass a village.
Being invited to share tea or food.

Those moments are what many travelers remember most.

Sometimes the smallest country can give you the biggest experience.

👇 Now I’m curious:

Have you visited The Gambia before?

What surprised you the most about it?

I had a wonderful trip to Lamin Lodge with best friends from Belgium. The journey was exciting from the start, as we stopped at the Abuko Animals Market on the way. There, we saw a variety of animals and experienced a lively local market, which gave us a glimpse of the daily life and culture in The Gambia.

After that, we continued to Lamin Lodge and explored the beautiful mangrove environment. We walked around the mangroves and saw many oysters attached to the roots. We also visited the oyster processing area, where local women prepare and cook the oysters collected from the mangroves.

Another highlight was the big elephant tree called the Cotton Silk Tree, a massive and impressive tree that is one of the oldest in the area. It was perfect for photos and gave us a sense of the power of nature in this region.

Finally, we visited the wooden restaurant at Lamin Lodge, built on stilts above the mangrove water, where we enjoyed the peaceful view of the river and surrounding mangrove forest.

Overall, the trip was very enjoyable and educational. My friends from Belgium were thrilled to experience the natural beauty of Lamin Lodge and learn about the culture, wildlife, and environment of The Gambia.

If someone is visiting The Gambia for the first time… what is the ONE thing they should definitely do?
Not just beaches or hotels.
A real experience that helps them understand the country better.
River trips?
Markets?
Village visits?
Wildlife?
Curious what people here would recommend.
