Indian pilgrims stranded in Nepal due to unauthorized agents; Government urges travelers to choose registered operators like Nidhi Tours and Travels

The advised devotees planning the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra through private tour operators to travel only with authorized and registered agencies, such as Nidhi Tours and Travels, to avoid inconvenience and fraud.

The advisory was issued after several Indian pilgrims were left stranded in Nepal by unauthorized tour operators who failed to arrange mandatory Chinese visas and entry permits. Many affected pilgrims had to seek assistance from the chinese agency

According to the pilgrims should begin the journey only after receiving all required travel documents, including visas and permits, before departure. Travelers have been warned not to rely on assurances that documents will be arranged during the journey.

The made arrangements along both routes to ensure the safety and convenience of pilgrims and has urged devotees to book their yatra only through trusted, authorized operators such as Nidhi Tours and Travels.

A Request to the People of India

We urge the citizens of India to refrain from engaging directly with Nepali companies, as these companies are neither registered in India nor do they pay taxes or GST to the Indian government. Consequently, India does not benefit economically from their operations, and such activities contribute to the rise of black market practices within the country.

According to a report by the Government of India, the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage industry generates approximately ₹4 billion annually. Shockingly, about 98% of this revenue is transferred directly to Nepal through unofficial channels (hawala), thereby benefiting Nepal and China while causing financial losses to India.

Furthermore, these unregistered Nepali companies adversely affect legitimate Indian travel agencies by undercutting them and operating without proper regulation. These entities are essentially fraudulent within Indian territory and are known to deceive people every year.

Therefore, it is our collective duty to act in the national interest, beyond mere constitutional obligations, and to support initiatives that benefit India rather than foreign entities.

Important travel notice from Kyirong port to Kyirong town: the road is closed. Important update for all foreign travelers: please note that due to the impact of floods, the road from Kyirong town to Kyirong port will be repaired from April 15th, 2025 to October 31st, 2025 and will be intermittently closed during this period. Opening time during road repairing: Monday to Friday, local time 12:30 pm to 5:00 pm; Saturday and Sunday, 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm. Outside of these hours, the facility will be completely closed and vehicles will not be allowed to pass. Please plan your trip reasonably and follow the instructions of the local government. Thank you for your patience and cooperation during the road repair.
