- A volcanic eruption began just before 9:45 AM.
- It is the eighth eruption in the Sundhnúkur crater row.
- The highway Reykjanesbraut (no. 41) is open and operating as usual and the international airport in Keflavík is functioning normally.
- All flights are currently operating on schedule.

🌌❄️ Iceland in Winter: How Dark and How Cold Does It Get? ❄️🌌

Visiting Iceland in winter is an adventure on its own. Northern lights, snowy mountains, and waterfalls covered with icicles - a true winter wonderland. But how dark and how cold does it get in Iceland?

❄️ How Cold is it in Iceland? ❄️
Many visitors get pleasantly surprised it’s not that cold! The average temperature throughout winter lingers around 0°C (32°F), considering the average temperature in summer is about 8-13°C (46-55°F) it is not that bad, right?

🌬️ Windy Weather Warning 🌬️
While winters may not be as cold, it is important to remember Iceland is very windy. Make sure to pack rainproof and windproof clothes – jackets, pants, gloves, hats, and so on. Layers, layers, layers! What you can safely leave at home is an umbrella – utterly useless in Iceland.

🌌 How Dark Does it Get? 🌌
In the summertime, the sun stays above the horizon for approximately 21 hours. But in the winter, prepare for longer nights! The longer the nights, the better chance you have to spot the mesmerizing northern lights. It's also a great time for stargazing in the middle of nowhere.

🌧️ Rain or Snow? 🌨️
Icelandic weather is unpredictable, and you can expect heavy rains any time of year. Pack the right clothes and be prepared for the worst, but expect the best. Remember, there is more precipitation in the winter months.

It's pride week in Iceland 🌈
Reykjavík Pride is an annual event celebrated since 1999 and this year it is celebrating its 25th Anniversary.

There will be a number of fun events all throughout the week 🥰

One of the main events - The Reykjavík Pride Parade will begin at 2 PM this Saturday, August 10.

There’s a few must-see Pride locations including: 1. Samtökin 78 Community Center 2. Kiki Q***r Bar 3. Bravó 4. The Reykjavík Rainbow Museum
