⛩️🔥 The incredible energy of the Sanno Matsuri!

Today, June 14th, the streets of Tokyo came alive for the neighborhood mikoshi processions (Chiiki Togyo).

In the first video, you can witness the most spectacular moment performed by the Ujiko (the local residents and shrine parishioners) of the Tori Nichome neighborhood:
1️⃣ Oshiai: The intense "shove and push" where bearers pack closely together, violently shaking the portable shrine to build up raw energy.
2️⃣ Sashi: The epic climax where they suddenly lift the incredibly heavy mikoshi high above their heads with locked, outstretched arms to honor the deity.

The strength, stamina, and perfect synchronization required for this are absolutely breathtaking.

❗Fun fact: Since this full-scale festival only takes place once every two years (in even-numbered years), the next one won't happen until 2028!

Swipe through the photos to experience today's amazing atmosphere! 📷✨

A splash of color, centuries of tradition, and the energy of a festival that comes around only once every two years. ✨⛩️

Yesterday's Sanno Matsuri procession transformed the streets of central Tokyo into a moving celebration of history, culture, and community.

The festivities aren't over yet! On Sunday, June 14, another grand procession will make its way through Nihonbashi and Kyobashi. If you're looking for a truly memorable cultural experience in Tokyo, this is one you won't want to miss. 🥁🇯🇵

Sunday’s weather is looking a bit unpredictable today... 🌦️
So, we’re sharing a few snaps from last weekend instead! Here’s the beautiful Fukutoku Shrine, bustling with visitors as always under a bright, clear sky. ☀️

Did you know this shrine is actually considered a famous "power spot"? ⛩️💥
During the Edo period, Fukutoku Shrine was one of the very few shrines authorized by the shogunate to sell lottery tickets. Because of this lucky history, it became the place to pray for good fortune and winning tickets!

Fast forward to today, and that tradition is still very much alive. It’s a super popular spot for Oshikatsu (推し活)! Fans gather here from all over to pray for luck in winning those fiercely competitive concert ticket lotteries for their favorite idols, actors, or artists.

✨Want to discover this and many other hidden stories? Join us on our Edo Culture Experience Tour and dive deep into Tokyo’s fascinating history!

🎏 May Vibes at Fukutoku Shrine!

May is here, and Fukutoku Shrine is looking beautiful for Kodomo no Hi (Children’s Day)!

Instead of flying high, these koinobori (carp streamers) are hung elegantly throughout the grounds, symbolizing strength and the wish for children to grow up healthy and resilient.

Swipe through to see:

・The purification fountain adorned with irises: an ancient tradition to ward off evil and welcome prosperity. 🌿
・ The fox statue looking extra festive! It’s wearing a special, enriched bib, likely for the holiday celebrations. 🦊✨

The iris display is up until May 5th. If you're in Nihonbashi, it's the perfect spot to catch the early summer atmosphere!
