長崎的端島，是一座以煤礦產業發展起來的城鎮，小小的島嶼經歷多次填海與補強海岸線的工程，加上高低不一的混凝土建築而形成軍艦般的外觀，被暱稱為「軍艦島」。被採礦公司掌控、極高密度的人口以及戰爭影響等因素都在此形成了獨特的居住歷史。
如今的軍艦島，島內的建築大多崩壞中，有著大量石棉污染，開放參觀的區域僅有一小塊，長崎市內的博物館則有VR以及電腦模擬讓你能在虛擬世界逛完整個遺跡。
登島的船則因季節有不同的成功率，整體來說夏末與春初避開颱風與冬天季風會最能登島，若不能登島，遊覽船則會改為繞島航行。

Hashima, off the coast of Nagasaki, is an island that grew around the coal mining industry. Over the years, repeated land reclamation and the reinforcement of its seawalls, together with densely packed concrete buildings of varying heights, gave the island the silhouette of a battleship, earning it the nickname “Battleship Island.” Its history was also shaped by the mining company’s control, an extremely dense population, and the effects of war, creating a way of life unlike anywhere else.
Today, most of the buildings on Hashima are in various stages of collapse, and much of the island is contaminated with asbestos. Only a small section is open to visitors. If you want to explore the rest, museums in Nagasaki offer VR experiences and computer simulations that let you virtually walk through the entire island.
Landing on the island also depends heavily on sea conditions, and the success rate varies by season. In general, late spring and late summer, when the winter monsoon and typhoon season are less of an issue, offer the best chances of going ashore. If landing is not possible, the sightseeing boat instead circles the island.

上陸できるかどうかは海の状況に大きく左右され、季節によって成功率も変わります。全体的には、台風シーズンや冬の季節風を避けられる春先と夏の終わり頃が比較的上陸しやすい時期です。もし上陸できない場合は、ツアーの船が島の周囲を一周するクルーズに変更されます。
