Today, the plains of Amboseli feel quieter.
Craig, one of Africa’s most iconic super tuskers, has taken his final journey. For over five decades, he roamed freely beneath Mount Kilimanjaro, his massive ivory sweeping the earth — a living symbol of Kenya’s rich natural heritage, resilience, and the timeless bond between wildlife and land.
Craig was more than an elephant. He was a storyteller of generations past, a reminder of what protection, conservation, and respect for nature can achieve. He survived decades that saw countless elephants lost to poaching, standing tall as hope for wildlife conservation in Africa. Travelers from across the world came to Amboseli not just to see an elephant, but to witness a legend in motion.
In 2021, Craig was proudly adopted by *East African Breweries Limited (EABL) through the Tusker brand*, reflecting his worldwide appeal. His long life and survival to such maturity were made possible through decades of dedicated protection by Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), working in close collaboration with conservation partners and the local community.
Though Craig has fallen, his legacy lives on — in the dust of Amboseli, in the photographs that inspired millions, and in the responsibility we now carry to protect what remains. His life reminds us why sustainable tourism and conservation-focused travel matter more than ever.
