SUNDOWNER IN THE BUSH.

A sundowner is simply a ‘happy hour’ during sunset over the African Bush. As you round off your Afternoon adventure, your game drive will be spiced with a bush Sundowner.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON AFRICAN SUNDOWNER?

A selection of drinks, cocktails and delicious bites are usually served against the unforgettable backdrop of the African sunset. At our camps you may be taken away to “our” special African sundowner spot to experience this beautiful moment. During a sundowner, we advise guests to just sit back, relax and take in the atmosphere while they listen and watch the wildlife of the savanna. Most sundowner spots also offer amazing opportunities for a photographic session.

Contemplating the silence of the vast sweeping plains, your eye is drawn to a herd of majestic elephants slowly making their way to a glimmering waterhole. The baby elephants play and tangle their trunks with their older siblings. Carving another path, the wildebeest trudge up the escarpment slope to the same liquid haven. Here the little ones stick closely to their mothers. Creating a magnificent wild backdrop, zebras and giraffe amble past each other and quirky warthogs go down on bended knee to forage in scrubby brush. Cast your gaze further back and you may see jackal sneaking ever closer. This is a glorious time to relish the daily ritual of life in the wild as it unfolds naturally before you.

A classic safari from Kenya’s dramatic Laikipia Plateau and the fabled Maasai Mara-Serengeti to Tanzania’s epic Ngorongoro Crater and Hemingway’s beloved Lake Manyara.

Crinkled skin and kind eyes. Let's focus on the beauty of the rhino spirit;
one of the many interesting facts about rhinos is that while they are portrayed to be solitary animals, they have a symbiotic relationship with birds. Mostly the African rhinos and the African Oxpeckers. The bird sits on a rhino’s back and feed off the insects on it. Birds would also provide warning calls should any potential danger or enemies that approaches – as rhinos are quite short-sighted.
While the rhino's horns are the spec of the 'gentle giant ' it has endangered the species as they are harvested for making ornaments. However lucky for them, the horns could grow back.

The Kori Bustard is the heaviest flying bird in Africa.
They are omnivorous and will eat anything from vegetation to insects and reptiles.
When mating, the male will inflate its neck and fan his tail in order to impress the female.
They have interactions with other animals, such as foraging near a herd of zebras or serving as a perch for some birds.
When we saw this male Kori bustard looking for food surrounded by zebras, I had an image in mind and I tried to get it. So we followed it for a few minutes until I managed to get one of the endangered Grevy's zebras in the background. The zebra was kind enough to flick its tail and make the image a bit more interesting...
