Africa is not just where we travel, it’s what we protect.

From vast savannahs and untouched coastlines to the wildlife and communities that bring this continent to life, every journey we create is deeply connected to the environment that sustains it.

This World Earth Day, we’re reminded that travel comes with responsibility.

A responsibility to preserve natural habitats, to respect wildlife, and to support sustainable practices that ensure these extraordinary places remain for generations to come.

At Sense of Africa, we believe that meaningful travel goes beyond exploration; it contributes to conservation, empowers communities, and protects the beauty that defines Africa.

Travel with purpose. Protect what you explore.

🦛

East Africa is home to some of the world’s largest hippo populations, thriving in rivers, lakes, and wetlands that sustain entire ecosystems.

Hippos play a powerful ecological role—cycling nutrients into waterways, supporting fish and birdlife, maintaining water channels during dry seasons, and balancing grassland growth through nightly grazing.

Protecting these habitats means protecting one of Africa’s most important ecosystem engineers.

ɢɪᴠɪɴɢ ʙᴀᴄᴋ ᴡʜᴇʀᴇ ɪᴛ ᴍᴀᴛᴛᴇʀs ᴍᴏsᴛ 💚

Sense of Africa (EA) was proud to partner with AMREF Flying Doctors in supporting a CSR initiative in Mwihoko, Ruiru Sub-County, focused on health, education, and community wellbeing.

The day brought together partners and the local community through medical outreach, psychosocial support, distribution of essential supplies, and tree planting — all aimed at creating a positive, lasting impact.

We’re grateful to support and stand alongside partners like AMREF Flying Doctors in giving back to the communities that matter most.
