At the United Nations Office at Nairobi, we come together in solemn reflection to observe the International Day of Reflection on the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, honouring the lives lost, standing with survivors, and carrying forward the responsibility to remember. In this shared space of remembrance, voices unite around a simple but powerful call:

Remember. Unite. Renew.

Through reflection, we strengthen our observance to dignity, humanity, and the prevention of future atrocities. We stand in solidarity with the people of Rwanda, drawing from their resilience and reaffirming that even in the face of unimaginable loss, hope endures, unity is possible, and a more peaceful future remains within reach.

We gather in remembrance to pay tribute to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda.

As we mark 32 years since the tragedy, we remember the lives lost and stand together for unity and peace. 🤍

We were pleased to host students from Maranda High School at the United Nations Office at Nairobi for an educational tour. The students learnt the UN’s values and mission, and gained insight into how its operations are conducted from the Nairobi headquarters, a key hub for global programmes.

They also explored the UN’s work in diplomacy, maintaining international peace and security, promoting human rights, and sustainable development. The students showed great interest in understanding how these efforts translate into real-world impact.

Want to experience it too? Book a guided tour at the UN Office at Nairobi and discover how the UN operates at the heart of global action. We welcome schools, institutions, and members of the public to come learn, explore, and be inspired.
