The Great Migration is nature's most dramatic journey.

This is the Northern Serengeti, where thousands of wildebeest and zebras make the dangerous crossing as they migrate toward the Maasai Mara in search of fresh grazing and water.

Inside the rivers, massive crocodiles lie in wait. On land, predators such as lions patiently watch for the perfect opportunity to strike. Every crossing is a breathtaking display of survival, instinct, and the raw power of the African wilderness.

Migration Season: July to Early October
Peak Viewing: August to September

Witness one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on Earth.

Mornings in the Mara begin with something truly unforgettable a beautiful bush breakfast at Little Elephant Pepper Camp.

Freshly brewed coffee, delicious farm-fresh ingredients, and thoughtful touches set the scene, while the wilderness awakens around you. Listen to the birds sing, watch elephants wander nearby, and embrace the peaceful rhythm of the African bush.

Some breakfasts do more than satisfy your appetitethey awaken your senses and remind you that life’s greatest luxuries are often found in nature.

Often overlooked in favor of Africa’s famous predators, the African buffalo is one of the continent’s most formidable animals. Weighing up to 900 kg (2,000 lbs), these powerful herbivores are fearless, highly protective of their herd, and notoriously unpredictable. Even a pride of lions will think carefully before challenging a healthy adult buffalo.

In the African wilderness, survival isn’t just about speed or sharp teeth it’s about strength, unity, and resilience. The African buffalo is a true symbol of all three.

The Greater Kruger is widely regarded as one of the finest places on Earth to see leopards in the wild, and it’s one of the reasons I keep returning. During a recent two-night safari, our guests were fortunate to enjoy four unforgettable game drives, where our exceptional guide helped them find an incredible nine different leopards.

Every sighting was unique, from relaxed moments in the shade to unforgettable close encounters. Here are a few of my favourite captures from an incredible time in the African bush. 🐆📸

Musiara and Olonyori (“marsh” in Maa) named by the Governors’ Camp guides. The names pay tribute to the Musiara Marsh, the territory in which the cubs were born to Kaleo and the Topi Boys coalition in October last year.

We don’t usually name lions at such a young age due to the high mortality rates of cubs in the wild. However, names were requested ahead of the BBC’s release of the LION series.

To help distinguish the two, Musiara has a slightly longer face and ears, along with a small speckle at the 7 o’clock position on his right eye. Olonyori has a broader face, distinctive “Mickey Mouse” ears, and a richer, darker coat.

Both cubs are showing a mild case of mange, which has been assessed by two veterinarians and is currently not considered a cause for concern.

The names have been approved by the Mara Predator Conservation Programme.

The youngest members of the Marsh Pride, these two playful little rascals have officially been named Musiara and Olonyori.

In lion research and conservation, cubs are typically not named until they reach 12 months of age, making this a special milestone in their young lives. Full of curiosity, energy, and mischief, these future rulers of the Mara are already capturing the hearts of everyone who encounters them.

The Black Queen & Her Heirs 🖤

Deep within the wild landscapes of Laikipia, the legendary black leopard Giza graced us with a rare and unforgettable encounter alongside her two rapidly growing sub-adult cubs.

From intimate family portraits to quiet moments of reflection beneath the African sky, these sightings offered a privileged glimpse into the secret world of one of Africa’s most elusive and captivating predators. Watching Giza guide her offspring through the wilderness is a reminder that nature’s greatest treasures are often its rarest.

A melanistic leopard sighting is extraordinary. Witnessing an entire family together is simply magical.

The Maasai Mara is coming alive as anticipation builds for the Great Migration. Across the plains surrounding our camps, as well as Bilashaka, Topi Plains, and Paradise Plains, thousands of zebras have already arrived, streaming in from the northern conservancies and possibly even the distant Loita Plains.

Every day, spectacular herds are crossing the Mara River and moving into the Mara Triangle, with remarkable concentrations now gathering around the famous Kabruru and Main crossing points. The energy on the plains is unmistakable, offering a tantalizing preview of the incredible wildlife spectacle that is about to unfold.

For those dreaming of witnessing one of nature’s greatest events, there has never been a more exciting time to be in the Maasai Mara.
