⚠️ URGENT TRAVEL WARNING: Playa del Carmen's 5th Avenue - What Tourists Aren't Being Told ⚠️
To all friends, family, and travelers in the UK, USA, and Europe looking to book a holiday in Playa del Carmen: Do you not see what's really going on?

The beautiful beaches and resorts often hide a terrifying reality, particularly around the popular tourist heart of 5th Avenue. We are seeing a major surge in serious crime, including frequent muggings and shocking acts of violence, even killings, that are directly impacting the areas where average tourists spend their time.

The Danger is Real and Immediate
Just last night (November 30th), a supposed waiter was shot in the head at the entrance to the La Vaquita disco, located on 12th Street, just off 5th Avenue.

The Incident: A gunman walked up to the victim, pointed a weapon at his head, and fired, then casually fled among the crowds of tourists.

The Location: This happened in the middle of the main tourist corridor—the exact area where you walk, shop, and dine.

The Aftermath: Paramedics rushed the seriously injured victim to the hospital with a bullet lodged in his skull.

This is not a random, isolated event far from the tourist zone; this is violence unfolding right in the heart of the area marketed to you as safe. The level of brazen violence is alarming and puts every tourist at risk.

Before you book your trip, please be fully aware of the escalating dangers in Playa del Carmen. Your safety should be the number one priority.

📢 Plea for Safety: Don't let your friends or family walk into danger unaware.

🛑 URGENT WARNING TO BRITISH TOURISTS: TULUM IS NOT A PARADISE 🛑

DO NOT mistake Tulum for a safe, relaxing holiday destination.

The reality behind the filtered photos is one of absolute danger and escalating cartel violence.

This is not distant news; this is what is happening right now in the area. Just yesterday, a man's tortured body was found dumped in the Colonia Cristal neighborhood of Tulum. He had been deprived of his liberty, viciously tortured, and his remains were left exposed in broad daylight—a deliberate, horrific act intended to terrorize.

The state of Quintana Roo is a battleground. This extreme violence, including kidnappings, torture, and public ex*****ons, is becoming commonplace as drug gangs operate with impunity, taking advantage of a lack of effective security.

To any British citizen planning a trip or currently in the area: Your safety is at serious risk. Ignore the travel brochures. Tulum is not a quaint yoga retreat; it is a very dangerous place where brutal organised crime activity is a daily reality.

Think twice. Your life is worth more than a selfie.

Tulum Child trafficking network results in 15-year-old boys Death

Tulum, Mexico — Authorities in Quintana Roo have confirmed that the body found lifeless in Tulum corresponds to Joel Lizandro López Collí, a 15-year-old adolescent from Tekax, Yucatán.

The young man had disappeared on October 27 after accepting, along with four other adolescents, a fake job offer as construction helpers in Tulum. His family members reported the disappearance, and the Yucatán Prosecutor’s Office activated an Amber Alert on November 19, but the search concluded with the worst news.

So far, authorities have not clarified where or how Joel died. Unofficial versions disseminated by some media indicate that he was executed at the exclusive Rosa Negra restaurant in Tulum by a foreign hitman, but these versions have not been confirmed by the Prosecutor’s Office.

From a Dream of Work to an Assassination Joel Lizandro left Tekax on October 27 with four other young people after being contacted by an unknown person who promised them work in Tulum. Once at the tourist destination, their phones turned off, and the families lost all contact.

The Amber Alert issued by the Prosecutor’s Office described the adolescent with a scar on his left eyebrow and a tattoo on his wrist.

A month later, on November 22, his parents were informed that the young man had been found dead, without specifying the location or circumstances.

The other victims of the trip remain missing. Various local media and search groups have denounced that this tragedy is part of a forced recruitment network that lures adolescents with job promises and forces them to sell drugs or serve as “hawks” for criminal groups.

Authorities in Yucatán and Quintana Roo are investigating the possible involvement of a group of at least six people detained on November 17 in Tulum, among them the Colombian Juan Carlos “N,” who allegedly participated in the ex*****on on November 9 for a payment of 5,000 pesos £200 GBP

🚨 TRAVEL ALERT: Please be extremely cautious if you're driving on Highway 307 in Quintana Roo, Mexico! 🚨

Just witnessed a serious crash today, and it's a stark reminder of the very real dangers on this road. While it's a vital artery for tourism in the Riviera Maya, it's unfortunately prone to accidents, often due to excessive speed, unpredictable driving, and at times, challenging road conditions or lack of proper signage/lighting.

It's critical to drive defensively, be aware of "topes" (speed bumps) that can appear suddenly, watch out for sudden stops or turns, and avoid driving at night if possible. Always ensure you have valid Mexican auto insurance, as foreign policies are not accepted.

Let's all prioritize safety on the roads. Please share this as a warning to anyone traveling in the region. Stay safe out there!

The biggest risks to tourists visiting Cancun are primarily related to safety and health concerns.

While Cancun is generally safe for tourists, petty crimes like pickpocketing, theft, and scams can occur. It's essential to be aware of your surroundings, avoid displaying valuables, and follow basic safety precautions.

Natural Disasters:

Cancun is located in a hurricane-prone region. While hurricanes are relatively infrequent, it's always a good idea to check weather forecasts before your trip and be prepared for potential disruptions.

Health Risks: Mosquito-borne illnesses like dengue fever and Zika virus can be a concern in Cancun. Taking precautions such as using insect repellent, wearing long sleeves and pants, and staying in well-screened areas can help minimize the risk.

Water Safety: The Caribbean Sea can have strong currents and waves. It's important to only swim in designated areas and follow the advice of lifeguards.

Danger in Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Tulum.

The principal causes of recent violence have been disputes between criminal groups over territory, extortion rackets, and drug sales, according to a federal report.

In many cases, tourists are the ones buying those drugs, but the local insecurity — facilitated by corruption, impunity, and social conditions — has the most severe affect on residents.

"We've been robbed with pistols and with other larger guns, but they never catch them," Laura, an employee at a pharmacy outside of Cancun's hotel zone, told CGTN America. "Everyone here gets robbed, because there's no security presence in Cancun."

New beach security cameras to help fight crime on Mexico's beaches in Cancun, Playa del Carmen & Tulum

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Beach front hotels in Playa del Carmen have begun installing video surveillance cameras to be connected to the state’s main C5 system in Cancun. The additional cameras aimed at city beaches are meant to establish constant monitoring.

James Tobin, the General Coordinator of the Citizen Security and Justice Roundtables of Quintana Roo, says the cameras will help with crime prevention and acts of vandalism.

Tobin explained that this security strategy is an investment by the hotel sector aimed at protecting both tourists and residents, while contributing to peace in one of the busiest areas of the city.

“Hotels are making a very important investment to install cameras that look from the hotel towards the beaches, which will help provide real-time information to the C5 and C2 authorities,” he said.

“Security strategies must be strengthened,” he commented, adding that he hopes the increased security efforts will help improve security perception in the area and strengthen the confidence of visitors and residents of Playa del Carmen.
