Water level in canals lowered 7 centimeters on this Tuesday to move houseboat

Next Tuesday, the water level of the canals will be lowered by 7 centimeters for the relocation of a houseboat that is located on Geldersekade in the city center. The quay wall there will be partly renovated and trees will be planted. A relocation of a nearby houseboat is necessary for safety reasons during the work.

To make it possible to move the houseboat, Rijkswaterstaat will lower the water level in the North Sea Canal before 2 p.m. on 13 December. A 3D measurement showed that the houseboat cannot pass under the bridge. Through various open connections of the canals in the city with the North Sea Canal, the water in the canals will also drop by 7 centimetres. Due to this fall, the houseboat can pass under the Bantammer Bridge.

2.7 million cubic meters
More than 2.7 million cubic meters are used to lower the water level.
