Meet your Captain ⚓🇳🇱
Here at Aemstelland, our skippers are a big part of what makes every cruise special. Today, we’re introducing you to Captain Max 🤍
We asked him a few questions to get to know him a little better:
How long have you been a skipper, and what got you into it?
“I’ve been a skipper for around four years now. I’ve always loved being on the water, and I was looking for a job alongside my studies. That’s how I started working in the canal cruise industry! By now, I’m not only a skipper, but I also work operationally for the company, helping make sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes and that we can give our guests the best experience on board.”
What’s your favorite place to sail in Amsterdam?
“Picking just one favorite place is difficult, because Amsterdam has so many beautiful canals and spots. But the Amstel around the Magere Brug is especially beautiful at night, when the bridges and buildings like Carré and the Amstel Hotel are beautifully illuminated. The Raamgracht is another favorite of mine. It’s right in the middle of the city, but when you sail through it, it feels surprisingly peaceful and quiet.”
