Secrets out! We bought a bar - 🍻☕️
Those Dam Boat Guys teamed up with Fabian Handschin. Located just a few doors down from our TDBG pirate headquarters at Prinsenstraat 5, the former J.D. Williams Whiskey Bar has been transformed into a cozy craft beer bar! Plus we got a fancy coffee machine!
Passengers have often shared that the worst part of a TDBG boat tour is when its over. Now those good vibes can continue, from boat to bar. Many suggested the name “That Dam Bar,” but we wanted Café de Knoop to be a “locals bar” where tourists are always welcome. There’s ample seating, an old tavern vibe, and a (faux) fireside lounge, perfect for keeping things social and intimate. Gezelligheid is key!
All taps feature local Dutch and Belgian brews, including TDBG’s own Hazy Helmsman! Not a big beer fan? No worries. We’ve got quality wines, apple cider on tap, and classic cocktails at non-classy prices. We’re excited to announce we’ll have the Netherlands’ first alcoholic Ginger Beer, brewed by the legends at .
Each month, we’ll host events like trivia, comedy, live music, and whatever else we decide to do! In a panic about your company’s Christmas event? All good. From small groups to large, we can provide a boat, a venue, and even a custom comedy show if you’re keen. We’ve become a one-stop shop for entertainment!
Keep in mind the 13th edition of the Amsterdam Light Festival is coming up. Always a great excuse to sail the canals in winter while sipping hot gluhwëin! On Friday, October 18th, we had our Grand Knopening! It went spectacularly well. Thank you to all who’ve helped kick it off, and a big future thank you to all of you who will help keep it going!
If you don’t speak Dutch, Knoop means “knot.” The Dutch love their nautical idioms. After many weeks, we thought, “Zullen we nou eindelijk eens de knoop doorhakken over de naam voor ons Café?” “Ja.” So from now till forever, from noon until late, 7 days a week. Spread the word, share the love, and samen zitten we in de Knoop!

ATTENTION AMSTERDAM-BASED PIRATES!!!! We did it! We finally figured out how to get our plumbing/electrical/general contractor work handled without it costing more time, money and energy than is necessary. Our new friends over at ERC just helped us miraculously transform our previously dark, dank dungeon of a downstairs into a very well lit dank dungeon of a downstairs! Instead of a one man band that either over reaches beyond their skill level, or a specialist that inexplicably knows zero specialists in any other field, ERC specialises in hooking you up with the right person or people needed to get whatever project you need done, done. An absolutely refreshing renovation experience. We will 1000% be using them going forward!

We don't usually use this space to promote other businesses, but we had no hesitation to help spread the good word when they asked us for a little shout out to help their growing company, and help you out in the process.

Those Dam Boat Guys are awesome. If you too are awesome or have aspirations to become awesome, they’d love to speak to you! TDBG is an alternative, irreverent, Amsterdam-based boat tour company that’s been helping the cooler tourists fully appreciate Amsterdam for five years. ❌❌❌

Those Dam Boat Guys are looking for outgoing, funny, and intelligent people to help them with communications and public relations. TDBG needs what they call Wranglers: People to meet and greet customers and walk them to the boat, set up tours through phone and email conversations. There are a few positions available at the moment, all part-time. For 24 hours per week. This incidentally could be in between 16 - and 32 hours per week. 🤠

So, if you are a fun-loving people person that’s not a complete idiot, is fairly computer savvy, available on evenings/weekends, and has an English proficiency that allows for constant sarcasm, get in touch with Those Dam Boat Guys today!
