Morning magic at Phewa Lake, Pokhara 🌫️

The lake was calm. The boats were still.
Lakeside woke up slow, wrapped in mist.

Today the Annapurna & Machhapuchhre played hide and seek behind the clouds — we missed the mountain view, but not the peace.

Kafal Pakyo = Nature’s Dinner Bell 🍒🎵

In Himalayan villages, the ripening of Kafal, wild Himalayan Bayberry Myrica esculenta, isn’t tracked on calendars. It’s announced by a bird.

When the cuckoo starts singing “kuku-kuku” in late spring, elders smile and say “Kafal pakyo” — the bayberry is ripe.

Only then do kids and youths head into the forests with bamboo baskets to forage this ruby-red, tangy-sweet fruit. It’s organic, wild, and eaten fresh with a pinch of salt and chili.
