🚨 **What Do Potential Power Cuts Mean for Your Security System?** 🚨

As reports of potential power cuts increase, many clients are asking: What does this mean for my security system? Here’s what you need to know:

1. **Battery Backup:** Most alarm and access control systems have a battery backup. However, these are typically not designed for prolonged outages. Depending on the battery’s age and condition, it may last between 1-6 hours.

2. **Computers and Servers:** If your security system operates through a PC or server without a UPS (uninterruptible power supply), it will shut down during a power cut. Remember to restart these systems once power is restored.

3. **CCTV Systems:** It’s crucial to manually check and possibly restart your CCTV system post-outage. We've noticed many companies remain unaware for days, or even weeks, that their systems are offline following a power failure.

🔍 **Action Steps:**
- For short outages, your alarms and access systems should cope, but always perform a self-check afterward.
- For outages lasting more than 1-2 hours, inspect your systems. In the worst-case scenario, consider having a guard onsite, as fully drained battery backups can leave doors unlocked, posing a security risk.
