Ask a Broker: Should I wait for a sale?

It’s a great question and one we hear a lot.

Sales can offer good value, but they’re rarely as simple as “everything is cheaper.” Most are tied to specific travel dates, limited seat availability, or certain room categories, which means they don’t always suit your plans.

For peak periods like school holidays or popular destinations, waiting for a sale can actually work against you. As availability tightens, prices often increase, and the best options sell out first.

Another thing to consider is that some of the best value isn’t always labelled as a “sale.” Early release fares, added extras like upgrades or onboard credit, and well-timed bookings can often deliver just as much, if not more, value.

It really comes down to timing, flexibility, and knowing what to look for.

Enjoy peace of mind knowing you’ve booked the right option at the right time. Contact your local NZ Travel Broker to help plan your next trip. ✈️

Ask a Broker: Is it still safe to travel right now?

Safety is always the top priority for airlines and travel providers.

Due to the current situation in parts of the Middle East, there are ongoing disruptions to airspace, which means some flights are being rerouted, delayed, or cancelled.

Travel is still operating, but plans may change at short notice depending on the situation.

If you have upcoming travel, it’s important to stay informed. When you book with a NZ Travel Broker, we keep an eye on your flights and help you navigate any changes, so you’re not dealing with it alone.

‼️ EK FLIGHT UPDATE ‼️

All scheduled Emirates flights to/from Dubai remain suspended until 2359 UAE time on 07 Mar, due to the airspace closures across the region.

EK says it continues to operate a limited flight schedule and is accommodating customers with earlier bookings as a priority on these limited flights.

Customers transiting in Dubai will only be accepted for travel if their connecting flight is operating.

Travellers are asked to not go to the airport unless they have been notified directly by EK or hold a confirmed booking for these flights.

EK continues to monitor the situation, and says it will develop its operational schedule accordingly.

The latest flight updates will be published on its website, passengers are urged to check the EK website before travelling to the airport.

The carrier reiterates that the safety and security of its passengers and crew remain its highest priority.

Middle East Travel Update ✈️

Due to the current situation in the Middle East, some flights are not operating at present. We are receiving regular updates and reassurance directly from the airlines — particularly Emirates, Qatar Airways and Etihad Airways — who are actively managing schedules and passenger movements.

If you are travelling in early March, please know the airlines are working through affected bookings and passengers will be contacted directly regarding re-routing options where required. I will also be in touch personally with any of my clients whose flights are impacted.

As always, if you have any concerns at all, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m here to help and will continue to monitor updates closely.
