Gdansk Główny train station turns 126 today 🚂

On 30 October 1900 the first train left the brand-new main station of Gdansk for Tczew. Since then it has survived a fire, a plan to demolish it, and a four-year restoration – and inspired a station in France and a wedding palace in Japan.

A few facts you won't find on the photos:
🏗 It cost 5 million marks to build.
🎓 The same tower design was later reused for the Gdansk University of Technology.
🦅 The sandstone Polish eagle on the facade weighs 900 kg.

🍂 Autumn is one of the best times to visit Gdańsk. Fewer crowds, beautiful colours, mild weather, and a peaceful atmosphere that lets you truly enjoy the city. ✨ Sometimes, Gdańsk is even more magical in autumn. ❤️

There’s a place just 40 minutes from Gdańsk where time seems to slow down.

This is , and everything here happens right in the middle of an apple orchard.

Grab a table between the apple trees or take a blanket to the meadow, soak up the sun and enjoy a proper picnic.

The grounds are huge, so even at the weekend it’s easy to find your own quiet corner.

You can order pizza, a cold b**r or a coffee. They also make freshly squeezed apple juice right on site, 23 PLN per litre.

And this weekend, 10–11 October, you can pick your own apples or simply buy ones that are already picked.

Just keep in mind: they’re open at weekends only, and when it’s busy, you may have to wait a bit for your order. So come without rushing, that’s exactly what this place is for.

🍺 B**r, history and good company — a great recipe for a team experience in Gdańsk!

Recently, we had the pleasure of hosting a b**r tasting for the VIYAR team — and it was much more than simply trying different b**rs.

We explored the history of b**r in Gdańsk and Poland, talked about how b**r is brewed and what influences its taste and aroma. Most importantly, everyone had a chance to taste different styles and create their own tasting notes and ratings.

Today Gdynia celebrates 100 years since receiving city rights — on February 10, 1926, a small fishing village officially became a city. In the interwar period, Gdynia quickly developed into Poland’s main seaport and a symbol of the country’s economic independence, built almost from scratch.

Over just one century, it has grown into a modern maritime center known for its modernist architecture, port and strong seafaring traditions. The year 2026 in Poland has been declared the Year of Gdynia, so throughout the year the city will host exhibitions, events and celebrations dedicated to this anniversary — definitely worth keeping an eye on if you plan to visit the Tri-City.
