Thanks for making it here! I am Amit Chandra, a Digital Marketer, Travel Writer, and Tour Guide. Over the years, the lure of journeys, the thrill of traversing the unexplored, and my undying zeal for exotic nature out there have prompted me to cross boundaries. Natural World and its sanctity fascinates me every day, tempts me to outdo myself, and pull me out of my comfort zone. Autumn in Wrocław 🍂 switches to red and gold towards the end of October. The city’s iconic landmarks turn more photogenic in warmer colours. With abundant green spaces, riverfronts and parks, even a walk along the Oder makes a perfect treat.

From the National Museum in Wrocław and the monumental Hala Stulecia (Centennial Hall) to the leafy tram tracks of Park Szczytnicki, autumn brings out another dimension of Wrocław's attractions.

Along the river, east of the historic Old Town, Hala Targowa, Bulwary Dunikowskiego, Most Grunwaldzki and the historic riverfront around Ostrów Tumski offer some remarkable perspectives to capture. Towards the southern edge of the Old Town, the area around Plac Wolności and the former city moat (fosa miejska) deserves a moment too.

These places make Wrocław worth exploring on foot, or even better by bike, beyond the usual postcard views. This is the Polish city of bridges, rich history, green spaces and unexpected corners.

An autumn hike from Wrocław to the ruins of Stary Książ, the Pełcznica Gorge and Książ Castle. 🍂🏰

One of the best ways to discover Lower Silesia is by following a trail into the Sudetes. The train from Wrocław to Wałbrzych Szczawienko, followed by a hike towards Stary Książ (Old Książ Castle), makes for a popular route in the region. From the atmospheric ruins, follow the green trail, cross the Pełcznica River and head towards Książ Castle.

The Pełcznica cuts through deep, wooded ravines in Książ Landscape Park, with rocky slopes, dramatic bends in the river and forest paths that are particularly scenic in autumn. With the trees dressed in shades of gold, orange and red, it's a beautiful walk right now.

Some history! Stary Książ stands on the site of a medieval castle, later transformed into a Romantic-style ruin in the late 18th century. Today, its remains overlook the Pełcznica Gorge, offering a glimpse into a very different chapter of the region's past.

A little further along, the landscape opens up around Książ Castle, Poland's third largest castle, dramatically perched above the river valley. The surrounding Wąwóz Książ (Książ Gorge) is part of a landscape where natural beauty and centuries of history come together.

Stop at the castle before catching the return train from Świebodzice. Around 13 km overall, this is a generous dose of history, spectacular autumn colours and one of the most memorable walks near Wrocław.

If you're visiting Wrocław, don't overlook Lower Silesia beyond the city. The Książ area is a brilliant reminder of how much there is to discover just an hour away by train.

We joined RestaurantWeek at U Gruzina in Wrocław, and the tastings were on point! ❤️ From Georgian flavours and a walnut-rich chicken dish to honey cake and a Martini Fiero Spritz, it was a lovely way to discover what the festival has to offer. And the prices are just too good for such a rich delicious menu! 🫣

Around 50 Wrocław restaurants are participating this autumn, with special three-course menus starting at PLN 69.99 per person, plus the reservation fee.
