Important Landmarks Around Masjid Nabawi — And Why Most Pilgrims Miss Them 🌙

Madinah is the city people say they wish they'd stayed longer in.
Usually because they only saw the mosque — and never the city that surrounds it.

🕌 Jannat al-Baqi
The most sacred cemetery in Islam, directly beside Masjid Nabawi.
The Prophet's ﷺ wives, children, and thousands of companions rest here.
Why it's missed: entry hours are narrow — usually just after Fajr and Asr. Miss the window, miss the visit.

🕌 Masjid Quba
The first mosque built in Islam. 3.5 km south of Masjid Nabawi.
Two rak'ahs here carry the reward of an Umrah.
Why it's missed: people assume it's far. There's a 3 km walking trail from Masjid Nabawi — most never hear about it.

🕌 Masjid al-Qiblatain
Where the Qibla changed from Jerusalem to the Kaaba — mid-prayer.
4–5 km northwest of Masjid Nabawi.
Why it's missed: it's a 15-minute stop, but needs its own transport leg that group tours rarely build in.

🏔️ Mount Uhud
The mountain the Prophet ﷺ said loves us, and that we love.
6 km north. Hamza (RA) and the martyrs of Uhud rest here.
Why it's missed: most itineraries drive past it for a photo stop. Standing there properly takes an hour nobody allows for.

⚔️ The Seven Mosques & the Trench
Where the Battle of Khandaq was defended. Around 5 km out.
Small mosques marking where each companion stood guard.
Why it's missed: it isn't grand or photogenic — so it gets cut from itineraries first.

🌴 Salman al-Farsi's Date Farm
Near Masjid Quba. Still producing dates today.
Tied to the story of Salman al-Farsi (RA) accepting Islam.
Why it's missed: almost nobody knows it's there. It's ten minutes from a site they're already visiting.
