This mud bath isn't just for fun 👇

It's SPF, insect repellent, and temperature control all in one. Elephant skin looks tough but is actually surprisingly sensitive to sun and biting insects. The mud dries into a protective layer that does all three jobs at once, and does them better than anything we've invented.

Every scar tells a story. And none of them came easy 🦁

The torn ear. The notched nose your guide uses to identify him from half a kilometre away. The marks across his muzzle that speak to territorial battles most animals wouldn't have survived.

We've sat with lions our entire careers and it's always the older males that stop us completely. There's something about the weight they carry, all of that history written across their faces, that makes the vehicle go quiet without anyone saying a word.

A honeymoon safari designed well feels nothing like a holiday. It feels like the beginning of something 💛

If you were wondering what Sabi Sand is looking like right now, it’s all about leopard season. Full stop 🐆

The dry season has stripped the vegetation back completely, the sightlines are open, and the cats that spend most of the year tucked into dense riverine bush have very few places left to hide. Our guides know this landscape intimately, and at this time of year they find leopards with a consistency that leaves even guests who've been on safari many times before genuinely speechless.

The mornings are cool and clear. The light at first drive is some of the best of the year. And the Sabi Sand in August has a particular energy that is very hard to find anywhere else on earth right now.

It's just been refurbished, and we think it's better than ever. The double-sided fireplace still anchors the space. What's changed is a quiet refinement throughout, earthy bathrooms with hand-carved stone basins, a mezzanine lounge with deep sofas, and an elevated outdoor tsala that makes you genuinely reluctant to go inside.

It’s as if they’re impossible to look away from. Happy International Tiger Day 🐯

India's tigers are unlike any wildlife encounter Africa has prepared you for. The landscape is different, the atmosphere is different, and the moment a tiger steps out of the tall grass and looks directly at your vehicle is something that belongs in a category entirely its own.

We take guests into Ranthambore and Bandhavgarh during peak season, when the vegetation is low, the tigers are visible, and the chances of a meaningful sighting are at their highest. It's one of the beyond-Africa journeys we find ourselves talking about most.

To capture Botswana's landscape like this, sometimes the video needs to go horizontal 🥂

The Okavango spread out in every direction, the light doing exactly what it does here in the late afternoon, and our group of guests who had stopped trying to find the right words for it.

This is a drink stop at Atzaro Okavango, which becomes something you talk about for years.
