The Abilene Back the Badge Foundation is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Hunter Blake Patterson, an Abilene Fire Department firefighter, and his friend, Brett Cole Underwood following a traffic accident in Callahan County.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Patterson and Underwood families, the Abilene Fire Department, and our entire first responder community during this incredibly difficult time. The loss of these two young men has deeply impacted countless friends, family members, coworkers, and community supporters throughout Abilene and beyond.

Abilene Back the Badge Foundation President Kyle Johnson released the following statement:

“Hunter served our community with courage and dedication, and his loss is deeply felt by so many throughout Abilene and beyond. Please keep the Patterson and Underwood families, the Abilene Fire Department, and all who knew and loved these young men in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time. We will not forget.”

Our sincere thanks go to all participants, especially those who traveled from out of town, for joining us in an enjoyable evening of cars, food, old friends and new acquaintances. The event proved to be highly successful and we are already looking forward to organizing it again next year.
