AthHalf Half Marathon Experience the best the Classic City has to offer. The race starts in the dynamic downtown area. Pre and Post Race Events will round out the weekend.

AthHalf Half Marathon & 5K are annual road races through historic downtown Athens, GA, beautiful neighborhoods and the University of Georgia Campus, that raise money for AthFest Educates.
2026 dates: Half Marathon Oct. 11, 5K&Expo Oct. 10 As you wind through Athens' historic neighborhoods, through the historic UGA campus and finish up with a fantastic lap around the hedges inside the iconic Sanford Stadium (home of the UGA Bulldogs). You'll also run right by landmarks straight out of Athens' legendary musical history. The course will be challenging at times, but is well supported with ample hydration stops, energy gels, and lots of fun.

AthHalf 2026 was one for the books! Thousands of runners from 33 different states descended on on our city this past weekend to run the best half marathon in the south. We saw finishers as young as 12 years old and as old as 75!

The AthHalf is more than a race. It's one of the ways Athfest Educates raises money to support high-quality arts and music education for young people throughout Athens-Clarke County. Every dollar you raise helps us put more instruments in students' hands, more supplies in classrooms, and more professional development opportunities within reach for local educators.

We want to give a huge congratulations to our top individual fundraiser, Tim Cailloux, who raised an incredible $1,000 this year! As our fundraising champion, Tim has earned himself a free registration for next year's AthHalf.

We're also celebrating our top fundraising team, the Fig Newtons, who raised a combined $1,021.

Someone called Joseph Minecci “slow” during the first mile of the AthHalf. He took that personally.

Joseph was running in second at the time. By the finish, the former UGA Division I track athlete had kicked into high gear, taken the lead, and become the first person across the finish line this morning. All without headphones.

After stepping away from collegiate running, signing up for his first AthHalf gave Joseph a new reason to keep running. We caught up with him at the finish line to hear how the race went and what advice he would give to future half marathon runners.

Not a bad AthHalf debut.

The AthHalf Half Marathon starts at 7:30 a.m. today We'll see you at the starting line. Runners, share this to your Story and tag us in your race-morning photos. We want to see who’s taking on 13.1 miles today!

And don't forget: If you couldn't pick up your racing bib at yesterday's expo, you can pick it up this morning free of charge. You can start picking up your bib at 6 a.m. Get there early, though, because the line could be long.
