Show Row was the convergence of theaters at 7th and Congress. The Paramount Theater - né Majestic- was across the street from The Queen, which was originally The Lyric. Of course, there’s also The State. There are more, but some are lost to time. The Queen is highlighted here. It was the first 3 story building constructed on Congress Avenue in 1851. The building is currently The Contemporary Austin - Jones Center just across the street from The Stephen F. Austin Hotel with the best view in the neighborhood! 👻🏨🎭🎥

Her son lived next door and was out late that evening. She was brutalized by an unknown assailant on the night of May 23,1885. Today in Texas History, let’s talk about Joe, the only male survivor who fought alongside his master, William B. Travis in the battle of the Alamo. He is, to a large degree, the person from whom we get the story of the Alamo today! May 26th marks the day that newspapers published a reward for the slave’s reward, even though he fought for Texas Liberty, he was unable to secure his own. 🤠🐎
