We’re thrilled to announce the recent appointment of Ryan Rabaca as our new Head of Coffee & Roasting Operations. With an extensive background in green coffee buying, roasting, and a string of prestigious awards, Ryan is set to bring our roasting program to new heights and lend a fresh approach to our classic, time-tested coffees. ☕️

Ryan comes to Pegasus with 15 years of coffee industry experience, including the past 10 years as head roaster, green buyer and barista educator for Seattle’s Caffe Ladro. He also brings a proven track record of award-winning roasts, including two prestigious Good Food Awards (2019-2020), as well as the MistoBox Golden Mug Award for the Best Blend (2019). 🏆🥇

“I’m truly excited to join such a historic and iconic coffee brand serving Seattle and far beyond,” said Ryan. “Having spent years developing my craft, I’m looking forward to blending tradition with innovation and contributing to the rich legacy that Pegasus has built. It’s no coincidence that our company (and, through it, the US Specialty Coffee industry), and the sport of Pickleball both trace their origins back to an evergreen-covered island in the middle of Puget Sound. Bainbridge Island’s unique environment has encouraged numerous pioneers to create and experiment, and provided an open-minded community of residents ready to embrace, support and help spread their inventions.

That’s why we’re proud be a co-sponsor of the annual Founder’s Pickleball Tournament on Bainbridge from August 7-11! We can’t wait to serve up Pickleball Blend to spectators and participants alike, in celebration of America’s fastest-growing sport and our shared birthplace. ☕️✨

📣 🇳🇴 New/Old Partnership Announcement! 🇳🇴📣

We’re so excited to bring you this new collaboration with our friends at the iconic , the creators of Poulsbo Bread!

But we’re extra excited about this because it’s actually a revival of an old partnership dating back 30 years!!

If you like history, read on:

Some of you may know that Sluys has served Pegasus Coffee for many years. What you may not know is that Pegasus helped Sluys create a custom coffee blend called Poulsbo International Coffee, which Sluys served for nearly 20 years!

30 years ago, shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall, Marion and Dan Sluys approached Pegasus to create a special blend for their espresso machine that they had specifically built in Seattle for the bakery. Marion’s idea was to have several more of these machines made and shipped to Moscow, Russia along with the special blend of Poulsbo International Coffee. Sadly, the idea fell through in Russia but the Sluys family continued to sell Poulsbo Interational Coffee, roasted by Pegasus, in whole beans and cups of espresso at the bakery until 2011.

Recently, the Pegasus and Sluys teams agreed to revive this old blend for nostalgia’s sake, with a few tweaks. The new incarnation of this coffee is now called Sluys Little Norway Blend, in honor of it‘s hometown!

A blend of medium-dark roasted coffees from Brazil and Colombia, this coffee pairs as well as ever with pastries, featuring notes of orange and dark chocolate. 🍊🍫

The blend is now pouring at Sluys Bakery, and is available to take home in these newly designed, co-branded retail bags!

We’ve been hand-roasting small batches of high-quality Arabica coffee in the Seattle area since 1979.

Pioneers from the beginning, we introduced the European-style Coffee House to the region at our first store on Bainbridge Island in 1980. Shortly thereafter, we made history when we opened the very first coffee bar in downtown Seattle.

Over the years, our innovative spirit and dedication to the roasting craft have led to the unique, delicious blends and single-origin coffees – and the loyal customer following – we are still known for today.
