Our Lincoln Bench got a glow-up from the artist himself, Rick Harney. Made of cast bronze, our midwest winters can be hard on Mr. Lincoln, but he looks brand new! Thanks to Norris Porter and Herb Eaton Studio and Gallery for providing Rick moral support.

Lincoln document on display at Museum today, tomorrow!

The Museum’s Archives collections include several documents in Lincoln’s own hand. For Abraham Lincoln’s birthday, the Museum will display today and tomorrow an authenticated Lincoln letter dated November 1, 1859. It was written from Springfield and sent to Kersey Fell of Bloomington, and it involved the negotiation of a payment to meet a court judgment. Lincoln scholar and retired Bloomington attorney Guy Fraker worked with Sharon Merwin of the Merwin Foundation, which agreed to purchase the letter on behalf of the museum in 2019. Come to the Museum’s second floor Library Reading Room and get up close and personal with this 167-year-old letter written by Mr. Lincoln himself!
