In honor of our Alumni & Reunion Hawk Weekend Countdown on May 29-31- we take a look at alumni Hawks from years past.

A picture from the 1986 yearbook- students gathered at “local hangouts” like Gillary’s (formerly located next to Aidan’s Pub) and in warmer weather at the Topside (formerly known as Agave and now the Beach House).

Roger Williams University announces that President Ioannis Miaoulis will retire at the conclusion of the current academic year on May 31, 2026. The preceding seven years of leadership were marked by academic innovation, community engagement, and institutional growth.

“This decision comes from a deeply personal place. I believe it is best for my well-being and, just as importantly, best for the university,” said President Miaoulis. “This is the right moment for RWU to begin its next chapter, building on the momentum our community has created together. Leading this university has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my career, and I will continue to follow its progress with pride.”

The Board of Trustees has appointed Chief of Staff, Dr. Brian Williams, as Interim President beginning June 1, 2026. Dr. Williams will continue to advance Roger Williams University’s mission of providing a high-quality, student-centered education that prepares graduates for lives of purpose, leadership, and impact.
