Still turning heads after 130 years ✨

When the Ellicott Square Building opened in downtown Buffalo in 1896, it wasn’t just another office building. At the time, it was the largest office building in the world.

Designed during Buffalo’s industrial boom by renowned architects Daniel Burnham and John Root, the building reflected the ambition and confidence of a city on the rise. Its grand scale, intricate details, and stunning glass-covered concourse were built to impress, and more than a century later, they still do.

Today, the Ellicott Square Building remains one of Buffalo’s most recognizable landmarks and a lasting symbol of the city’s historic growth.

50 years of Juneteenth in Buffalo ❤️🖤💚

This weekend, Buffalo’s Juneteenth celebration returns to Martin Luther King, Jr. Park for its 50th year! Since 1976, Juneteenth of Buffalo has brought together generations of community members through music, food, cultural activities, and one of the region’s most anticipated annual parades.

Today, it stands as one of the largest Juneteenth celebrations in the United States.
More than a festival, Juneteenth of Buffalo is an opportunity to celebrate Black history, culture, heritage, and the spirit of community.

National Roast Beef Day? It’s Buffalo’s time to shine! 🥩🦬

Around here, this holiday means celebrating our signature sandwich: beef on weck.

For those unfamiliar, a beef on weck features carved roast beef served on a kimmelweck roll, a Kaiser roll topped with pretzel salt and caraway seeds, and is typically finished with horseradish. While its exact origins are debated, the sandwich, rooted in German immigrant tradition, has been a Buffalo staple for generations.

One of the names most closely associated with preserving that tradition is Charlie The Butcher's Restaurants, a fourth-generation family business founded in 1914. To celebrate National Roast Beef Day, Charlie the Butcher will be offering free beef on weck samples and weck mix to make your own beef on weck at Dash’s Market (Hopkins/Klein location) today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free weck mix will also be available at all Charlie the Butcher and Dash’s locations while supplies last.

Looking to try this local favorite for yourself? We’ve mapped out some of the region’s must-try beef on weck spots as part of the Ultimate Buffalo Food Trail, our guide to Buffalo’s most iconic eats.
