USMC Vietnam Combat Veteran Bubba Fawcett joined me last night to hunt down some ol' River Blues. We had a great time , poles stayed bent often early then we had a few bigger bites after dark. Caught a few & had a few get away, that's the way she goes. We stayed suspend fishing the entire time, retrieved 11 of 12 hang ups...that's up there around a Larry Bird free throw percentage..

A bit of a tough one yesterday with Keith & his crew. We popped a good one early that Chase snatched up before paw paw knew what happened haha.

Light tackle bite was actually fire we put 14 in the boat in just an hour mostly eater blues & few fiesty channelcat.

We poked around after we had enough of that, suspended & anchored only caught a few with alot of short bites & window shoppers on the 2D. In retrospect we could of kept on with the light tackle & furnished 3 church fish fry's this weekend!

Mr Lawrence Fawcett (Bubba) is back ! Bubba has definitely earned frequent fisher status on my boat as he comes out from Utah several times a year to visit family & chase these Tennessee Cats.

We got out last night & Bubba helped me wrap up a really successful August month of fishing. We started out loading up on some nice bream then got to the cats before dark. Well all month I've been leaning on marking fish on structure & contour & setting up on them with really good results. This evening 3.5hr in we had 3 fish to show for it. I told Bubba, "well we have an hour to midnight we gotta show em something different".

We got on the move & fished vertical for the last bit of the trip with 6 hammer down bites in 1.5 hr boating 5 of em! Even the 12lb fish smoke it on a short leash haha. Sometimes just over coming what you thought was gonna work feels better than straight hammering them the entire trip. Good times

The Vice is Right came out to chase the cats last night. Overall slower than it's been the entire month of August. We did capitalize on a few good bites! The big moon came up early before sunset, then it went away with an eclipse! That was pretty cool.

Ol' Jersey Cat drove up from Lake Lanier. He had a free day from his busy Striper guiding schedule on Lanier & been wanting to chase these Tennessee Cats for a minute. The August night bite continues to be strong as we had some good pole bending action from start to finish!

Appreciate you coming up Terry, always good to see ya & reminisce about the good ol' days.

I had Dustin & Daniel down on the Tennessee River to chase the cats. Man, what a night we had! We got the skunk out with a double up on a 30lb beautiful PIEBALD Bluecat & a thick hard scrappin 41lb blue right out the gate! Both personal blues respectively. Later in the evening Daniel also caught his personal best Flathead that was just a hair under 40lb , he came in as part of a triple!

Our stats were kinda off the charts & would make even the great Ty Cobb proud. We had a triple, 2 doubles, 15 for 15 on take downs, 5 for 6 on snag retrieval, over 350lb of fish total....can't beat that with a baseball bat..
