ICYMI: Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced a new policy yesterday which will allow passengers traveling through domestic airports to keep their shoes on while passing through security screening at TSA checkpoints.

“Ending the ‘Shoes-Off’ policy is the latest effort DHS is implementing to modernize and enhance traveler experience across our nation’s airports,” said Secretary Noem. “We expect this change will drastically decrease passenger wait times at our TSA checkpoints, leading to a more pleasant and efficient passenger experience. As always, security remains our top priority. Thanks to our cutting-edge technological advancements and multi-layered security approach, we are confident we can implement this change while maintaining the highest security standards. This initiative is just one of many the Trump administration is pursuing to usher in the President’s vision for a new Golden Age of American travel.”

What. A. Weekend.

I am still processing it all but WOW.

First time in the HISTORY of TAMS to ever sell out a conference?! We did that!

Serving on the board as a part of Travel Advisors of the Mid-South been both an honor and a blessing to me the last 4 months.

Seeing (and living) all the time, energy, sweat, tears …and crap ton of LOVE that goes into planning and hosting a conference like this is something I don’t think I can properly put into words.

I left this weekend with bags under my eyes, sore feet, maybe a little dehydration and sleep deprevation, and also…with many new industry friends, new memories with “old” friends, and a heart full of gratitude that I will carry for a long long time. (Thankfully I get to do it all again in 2026!)

This weekend was a year in the making and a huge labor of love from the board- especially Autumn Trussell-Murray who I personally watched take on way more than she should but also somehow handle it all with such grace and grit.

I’m so thankful to stand with you and Irene Schulman Sauger and the rest of the board members to pour into our industry and continue making TAMS a place where everyone feels loved, welcomed, and connected.

The board is 100% volunteer based which is wild to think about.
All of us have a number of other hats we juggle with our agencies, families and even other jobs outside the travel industry. But we pour our time and love into this conference because of the love we have for our industry.

There are so many others I could tag that deserve recognition but I know I won’t get you all because there are so many of you that stepped up to help when you saw a need. Just know you are seen and SO appreciated.

Who knew being social media manager and taking over the theme nights would turn me into a sappy mess?! But here I am.

Thank you to the rest of the TAMS board for trusting me with these tasks and allowing me into the heart of all that TAMS stands for.

I’m exhausted and excited and can’t wait to do it all again next year. 🥰🫶🥹
