Traveling to Mexico for the FIFA World Cup 2026™? We're sharing pre-travel tips:
️⃣ – Check your passport. A U.S. passport card is valid for crossing the land border, but a U.S. passport book is required for international AIR travel.
️⃣ – Understand Mexican laws. While in Mexico, you’re subject to Mexican law regarding drugs, guns, and ammunition. For example, it is illegal to bring e-cigarettes and va**ng liquids into Mexico. Learn more about what you can and cannot bring into Mexico at travel.state.gov/mexico
️⃣ – Stay connected. Save emergency numbers for the U.S. embassy or nearest consulate to your phone. Follow the Embassy’s WhatsApp channel: “U.S. Citizens in Mexico.”
️⃣ – Enroll in STEP. The Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) is a free service for U.S. citizens to receive important safety and security information from the U.S. embassy and consulates. Sign up at step.state.gov.
