ZAMBIA bound on one of our annual hosted trips. Why a hosted trip? Plenty of reasons! 1) you don’t like to travel alone 2) it’s your first time traveling to a new place 3) peace of mind traveling with someone that’s been there before 4) an extra set of hands to help make sure everything goes well door to door 5) it’s fun hunting with new friends! 61” 🤯 it’s better to be lucky than good. Eclipsing the magical 60” mark on a southern greater kudu is what are dreams are made of. I’ve watched fellow hunters pursue this feat for decades. Heard of PHs that hunt and work a lifetime to never even see one. Chris and I were pleasantly surprised. No ground shrinkage. He literally got bigger with every step we got closer to him. Hunt with the best to find the best. We live this stuff!

MULEY CRAZY

Canadian mule deer don’t live where comfort lives.

They live where the wind never seems to stop blowing, where coulees drop into river bottoms, and where every ridgeline looks like it was designed to humble hunters.

This is big country. The kind of country where you’ll spend hours behind glass picking apart distant hillsides, looking for a buck that’s spent his entire life avoiding wolves, winters, and hunters. The kind of country where a mature mule deer can disappear into a fold in the terrain and leave you questioning your eyesight.

Then suddenly, there he is.

Heavy forks. Deep backs. Wide frame.

A buck that looks like he was grown from the prairie itself.

Canadian mule deer hunting isn’t about sitting still and waiting for luck. It’s miles on your boots. Frost on your beard. Long stalks across open country where every step matters.

The best part? It’s not knowing what’s over the next ridge.

Because in mule deer country, every horizon feels like a promise. And every stalk feels like the beginning of a great story.

Big sky. Big country. Big mule deer.

🇲🇽 MEXICO - Ocellated Turkey

Most turkey hunters spend their spring chasing gobblers through hardwood ridges, cattle pastures, and oak bottoms.
Then there’s the ocellated.

To hunt one, you head south into the jungles of the Yucatán, where the air is thick, the vegetation wants to swallow you whole, and every morning feels like you’re stepping into an Indiana Jones movie.

This isn’t just turkey hunting. It’s an expedition.
The jungle wakes up before daylight. Howler monkeys announce their presence from the canopy. Exotic birds scream from the trees. Somewhere ahead, a neon-colored turkey with eyes on its feathers and an attitude problem is sounding off from the shadows.

The ocellated turkey looks like somebody handed Mother Nature a box of crayons and told her to go wild. Electric blues. Iridescent greens. Orange-tipped feathers. The most beautiful turkey on earth and one of the most unique hunting experiences a sportsman can have.

Every step feels like exploration. Every morning feels like discovery. And when that first ocellated gobbler finally steps into an opening beneath the jungle canopy, you’ll realize this was never really about a turkey. It was about the adventure.
Because some hunts fill a tag. Others fill a chapter in your life story. The Yucatán does both.

🇳🇿 NEW ZEALAND - Red Stag

New Zealand during the roar feels like a place that shouldn’t exist. Snow covered peaks. Emerald valleys. Rivers so clear they look photoshopped. Then somewhere across the basin, a red stag lets out a roar that echoes through the mountains and reminds you exactly why you came.

Everything changes when the rut starts. Old stags emerge from the shadows. Fights break out. Roars roll through the valleys before daylight and continue long after the sun disappears behind the peaks. Every ridge holds possibility. Every stalk feels like it could end with the stag of a lifetime standing broadside in alpine country that looks like it belongs in a fantasy novel.

This is the kind of hunt that gets under your skin.

Cold mornings. Crossing mountain streams. Watching the first sunlight hit the peaks while a stag roars somewhere below. The kind of moments that don’t show up in trophy photos but stay with you long after the hunt is over.
